Anyone know where to buy Almond Flour in Cork? A family member needs it for dietary reasons.
Only place I could find it was a health shop @ €33.00 for a 2kg bag!

    Thanks.

Ground almonds can be bought in the baking section of most Aldi stores.

Believe what you like.......... the specialist retailers love it.
Almond Meal/Flour is simply raw blanched whole almonds that have been ground into a fine powder. Use almond meal in cakes, cookies, sweet breads, and a host of other desserts. Store in your freezer to extend its shelf life.

I make my own & providing you have a blender and a sieve its quite easy. Best to either buy blanched almonds (or blanch them yourself - 1 minute in boiling water) otherwise you get the dark flecky bits of skin. Make sure they are 100% dry before putting them in the blender, roughly a big handful at a time & whizz away. when they've gone as much as they are going to go, put them into a sieve and shake until all of the fine powder has gone through. the remains can be put back into the blender again.

As its so fresh, its best kept in the fridge or freezes really well too.

I do the same with hazelnuts which makes great pasta if you can get it fine enough.
