Yes you're right mcdonalds, i'd say they will do very well there.

I'm fascinated by Swords and how massive it is and how little it gets. There wasn't a night club there up until Velvet. No BK.... KFC a recent addition and no Tesco? Are they all asleep at the wheel here?

I bet it will do really well, you can't get parking near the one in Swords.

There was no night club in Swords because it had late bars and did not really require one as the population has grown so much in the last 10-15 years the requirement for one is only a recent thing, (as far as I know it was the first town in Ireland to be granted such late licences for bars - open to correction).

TBH I wouldn't mind if there were no fast food joints in the town, but now the only one that will be missing is BK....

Considering Balbriggan has a 24hr Tesco Extra I'm surprised Swords only has a Tesco Local.....

Tesco's are trying to get in down the road.

Are you sure its a McDonald's? I don't recall ever having seen any planning notice on the border of the site? And surely it would make more sense to have it up by the empty reids unit.

    Hi Pete!
Original application was in 2009, you may have missed it. Reference: F09A/0063 http://planning.fingalcoco.ie/swiftlg/apas/run/WPHAPPDETAIL.DisplayUrl?theApnID=F09A/0063

That's what you get for defecting to the southside :D

That sucks. I was hoping it ws BK.

I notice the original application was refused, then they appealed and it was granted. Is there a way to find out why it was refused, and what changed their minds?

EDIT - never mind, I just saw the bit where it gives a description.

Casino is already built beside the Wright Venue, still a couple of empty lots on that block.

Great, more places to make me fat :D

Airside was crying out for fast food shop. The amount of money to be make over there especially on weekends. Really surprised Burger King didn't try get in there..

Expect massive traffic issues on the access road (already a no-go zone on weekends).

No way planning permission should have been granted without improving access to the lower end of the retail park (Smyths, Halfords, Homestore, BoQ).

    Another planning cock-up.

Could be a positive for TGIs. Allows customers to pop out for a snack while they're waiting on their order.

Getting in and out of the car park is a disaster. Ive surprised ive never seen a crash out there at the little junction at currys.

Yeah cos Pavillions is such a trek from Holywell. No wonder Swords is becoming one giant shopping centre, nobody is prepared to walk more than 30 seconds to get to anything.

I live in Holywell and I have no intention in ever using a Tesco it if is built there. Nor do I support it going in there.

I'm Holywell too and I'm dreading it getting the OK.

I wont give in though, there will be no way I step foot in the door in less its an actual life threatening emergency!

is the McD's really going in the car park as shown on the picture in the planning application?

the queues getting in and out of that car park are terrible at peak times already. there would surely need to be a seperate entrance for the McD's from the road, though I dont see that in the application
