Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thread just inspired by a TV ad, one of their responces was a walkman. To be honest, I think its coming on 12 years since I played a cassette.

My favourite peice of technology was a mini disk player. Wow how them things took off.

    :D

My first MP3 player- a Creative Zen V. 4 gigs of memory. I was fascinated by it. Nowadays, I've since replaced it with a 16gig model and I've come to use it so often that it's practically become a part of me.
My next big gadget purchase will be a Kindle Touch. Wheee! New gadgets!

I always get strange looks when I start a sentence with "Remember 10 years ago when..." and then proceed to describe something from the 90s.

    Nineties were the besties!*

Mini disc player. Think there was a window of about 2 months between mini disc players being released and MP3 players taking over.

Probably my mobile phone. The technological progress of the last 10 years seems to have been made at lightning speed. When I was in 6th year 10 years ago, phones with crappy cameras were only becoming mainstream. When I started college in 2003 I was still using a floppy disc to save my essays.

The Rio retailed for US $200 with the ability to hold around 1 hours music at a bitrate of 128 kbit/s.

It was great for about 2 years when the holder for the battery worn away so had to use a combination of glue and tin-foil to keep it going.

its made how fast phone tech goes, sure the iphone is 5 years old now, the original 2g model is a dinosaur of a phone, no mms, cant forward texts, no copy and paste, slow ass internet. you could get a 50 quid phone that would be better these days.
