Hey guys here is the rig i am buying
HIS HD 6870 IceQ X
Windows 7
Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB
Corsair Vengeance Ram 8GB
ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3
Cooler Master 690 II Lite - pure black
Thermalright True Spirit 120

I need a Good psu i was going to get a Super Flower 600W but after reading some comments here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRO7eaHhzTM
I am a bit Weary about getting a Super flower
I need a Good PSU thats Under 80 Euro i would like to buy from Hardwareversand but i have no idea about PSUs i need it to be future proof because i plan on having about 3 1tb Hardrives and a few fans,I also think i will Upgrade to a Nvidia 680 in the future

SuperFlower is the most recommended brand around here and almost every build here has one. I myself have one and have no problem.

It seems to be one guy complaining.

I've opened the powersupplies and had a look at the components and the solder work..... it's just cheap ****.
(I'm electronician)

The supposed Electrician can't even spell it. (Unless electronician is a job, but I can't find it in the dictionary).


Basically, never listen to youtube comments. Look at trusted reviewers and see what they think. I've looked at reviews for the superflower brand and haven't seen a bad one.

Go for either Corsair, Seasonic or Antec if i were you.

Another vote for Corsair. Used a few on builds, great stuff.
Good after service as well, the one time I had to change one.

Youtube comments are a very reliable source :rolleyes:

SuperFlower Amazon, Golden Green, and Golden King are all very good PSUs. They are also much cheaper than the equivalent Antec/Seasonic/Corsair would cost. You can read over some professional reviews to ease your mind:

For a single HD 6870 a 450W Amazon will be perfectly fine, 550W if you plan to crossfire or upgrade in the future.

Okay Guys so i am gonna go for the Super Flower 650W I know this is Overkill for my Rig but i will be putting a good bit of stuff in it in the future can ANYBODY find a review on this PSU i cant get one Anywhere

by the description it seems to be modular but looking at reviews etc they all says its modular.

also why dont people just go for gold rating? would they not pay themselves off overtime considering say I will have this for at least 5 years?

While getting a more efficient PSU now might save in the long run, it also means you are cutting other parts of your build. Given that the difference between gold and bronze is pretty small, its usually better to put the extra ~€50 into the GPU or something instead.

You'd want to be using it an awful alot for it to pay for itself I reckon. Doing some very rough maths on the back of a napkin, lets say you had an average gaming PC that idles at about 120W or so and left it on 24/7 for a year, (taking a Bronze PSU to be roughly 95% as efficent as a gold one). I make out that a gold PSU would use about 60 KWh less electricty over the course of the year, which taking 18c and 9c for day and night units costs into account would work out at something like €9 a year.
