Would you not just buy them all Steve? Buy a small-mid cargo ship & ship them over yourself. Bring them in around 4am off the coast of Kerry to avoid duty, in the biggest boards a&r meet ever.

Then buy an empty commercial unit, & set up a huge arcade.

    No? Ah :(

Please send all investment funds via paypal to crazystevesimports@dodgycandies.ng to own a piece of this lucrative candy cab pie.

I am a Nigerian prince and by the grace of god, will gladly help you manage that Paypal account Steve.

Although may I suggest changing it to a Western Union system instead?

    All,
I'm interested in a candy too. Sounds great. Keep me in mind.
    :)

BTW - I know a lot of you are worried about the picture quality of the monitors. I spoke to the guy from DigitalSystemsDesigns in the UK recently and he told me that the geometry issues are associated with differences in magnetic fields of the earth. You can take a cab from Australia or Japan and it can look perfectly fine in Japan, but as soon as you transport to another location you can get odd geometry effects. That's because the monitor is calibrated for the local region (japan etc.), and in order to get the geometry perfect for your local region (Ireland), the magnets on the monitor tube need to be stripped down and reinstalled, and apparently that can take hours, and often the results are mixed. Unfortunately adjusting the monitors pincushion won't fix the problem, as I'm sure ye already know.

All that said, I'm still interested in an import :)

    All sounds good Steve.

Be interesting to see what the full range of cab types is.

Are Egret 3 screens pure flat does anyone know?

The standard monitor is a 29" pure flat tri-sync display (15/24/31 kHz).

I had to make sure my replacement monitor was flat as apparently you can have problems trying to install a non flat screen in the cabinet(bezel issue I guess).

Thanks Steve. Egret 3 sounds the job so far!

Just as a matter of interest Steve, did you spot or hear of any non candies amongst the stock? Any dedicated cabs?

The only dedicated candy(sort of dedicated as I guess you can stick whatever pcb you like in it) I can remember seeing was a SNK Neo 29.

Not sure if he still has it but I can email him and ask if you like. You looking for anything in particular? I can ask him to check for other cabs as I need to email him in the morning anyway.

Ah it's no big deal, more a curiosity really. I do love my dedicated cabs. I'm really restriced by the width of cabs, damn door frames & no side entrance. But I suppose I'd love some kind of shooter. Finding one narrow enough though will be tough. The Tekken 3 cab I have is the biggest width that'll fit :( & I think that's the same cab as MK2

But you'd fit nearly any candy in most doors once you remove the control panel. My Egret 3 is tiny once the panels off it.

Gwan Enternow, you know you want a candy!

An Egret 2 would look lovely next to your current cabs. And if you realized you didn't want it, hell, they resell for a fortune.

Although maybe not now once Steve_SI floods the European market! :D

Steve_SI - as a matter of interest, any signs of a Capcom Mini Cute? I'd be murdered if I bought two cabs..but maybe I'd be allowed one and a half...!

I don't remember seeing a Mini Cute but I'll ask the guy.
It's so small though, could you actually play it for any period of time?

I know, size wise, it goes against all logic and sense.

It's just so damn cute though! :pac:

I reckon if you stuck Puzzle Bobble on one of them it'd be a girlfriend magnet.

'OMG! A MACHINE OUR POTENTIAL CHILDREN COULD USE!!'

'But what if we happen to have big, fat children?'

'YOU'RE RIGHT! BUY MORE ARCADE MACHINES JUST IN CASE!'

    Win.

Lol he's playing SFII looks like, impressive. The cute's are cool but quite expensive, not sure I'd let a child near the thing. Not sure leaving that step down beside his feet is a good idea either.

That bigger pic is so depressing. I can see a Blast just below yer man in the pic, it's missing the back and has the neck of the CRT exposed to the elements. :(
Hopefully nobody went and put their hand in there either.

I'm pretty sure that cab with no back is a Neo Candy 29. You can tell by the side art. - which is even MORE depressing than it being a Blast City! :(

pretty much all the cabs in this pic are clones which got scrapped due to them being clones this is somewhere in china iirc ..most candies in europe that where got in group orders came from closing arcade's etc and not dumps ,no idea where ronnie gets his but there was a bit of story behind how he started in the business

doubtful ,its more than likely a super LS 25/29(Clone of neo candy 29)

Holy crap. Ronnie told me he had another Candy 25 but with no rotate mech. So I wasn't really interested.

Until I saw it that is!

    c252.jpg

Very tempted to go for this.

    c253.jpg

    c25.jpg

Edit - measured up the door frame, this'll come in with about 10cm to spare!

    Just sent Ronny an email...

Okay lads, help me out here. Should I buy the above cab or wait for the group order?!?

This is undoubtedly more expensive. But it's nice and small (a major plus), looks stunning (I think so anyway) and I'd have it pretty soon.

    But no vertical orientation.

God damn it! I'm really stuck!

I dont think this cab will be available for sale much longer either.

Purely from the looks I'd say leave it. But that's just me and I'm not a fan of that particular candy.
But, if you like it, want it and have the cash ready to go I'd jump on it(except I'd personally never buy from Ronnie again because of my experiences with him, others have had great experiences of course).

That'd be one of my big concerns. I have horrible visions of an old cab, monitor going kaput - being left with a very big paperweight! I guess that's something we face with all cabs though - maybe it'd be best first to check and see if it's a generic 25 inch monitor which can be easily replaced?

    Wouldn't need to, I don't really play any 6 button games ;)

The one modification I'd want to make to it is to give it proper Neo Geo button colours, like so -

Overall I like the look of it actually. I like that marquee area with the speakers jutting out a bit. What's the story with the button placement - is that a custom job or are there different variants of the Candy 25 layouts? Actually - the important question is does it bother you and if so how handy is it to get another cp plate with the correct placing?

I thought a rotate mech wasn't massively high on your list since 90% or more of the arcade games you have are hori?

It seems to be an official button placement, although I have seen one where the buttons were in a straight line - I think this cab is earlier and a bit rarer than the one I posted above. The curve of the chrome is a bit more angled than that MVS 4 slot cab too.

The button placement doesn't bother me at all to be honest. From what I can remember (it's been a while since I've played any of my MVS carts), the only time I'd be using button 4 is parry in The Last Blade. And it might be even easier to pull off in that configuration - the colours would bother me more :D

You're right, most games I'd be playing would be horizontal. Would be nice to have the option of tate though for the 3-4 boards I have.

It's annoying actually, do you remember the other SNK candy 25 he had? It didn't look nearly as nice as this, but had a tate feature. Shame it wasn't on this one instead!!

if it was me and i had the money i'd buy it,

Also you mentioned that this has no rotate mech,it was made for mvs so wouldnt have one, but iirc it is rotateable
