increase in smokes in a box

so i went into shop and ask for 20 benson. im told i can get a 23 smokes box for a tenner. a quick maths tell me thats 30 cent each for the extra smokes which does work out a little cheaper.( roughly 45 cent a smoke in a standard box). But i dont know about this development. soon they will up it more. i suppose if your gonna smoke anyway it shudnt matter but having more in a box doesnt help if you want to cut down. thoughts...

Also can anyone who works in a shop clarify if your asked to up sell by the tobacco reps? i have been offered different types of cigarettes before that are ' new '. any financial incentives offered to promote? im sure it goes on.

I buy my smokes from a bloke on the corner, comes in a wee zip lock bag, and you gotta roll them yourself.

I think it could be a plan to fix the retail price at a tenner, and reduce the pack size as tax/excise increases.

My guess is that they are black market.

Boxes come in a range of "strange" sizes on the continent - anything form 18 to 25 in a box.

Not sure why Ireland has always being specifically 20 in a box (but I think it's better as you know what you are getting).

I reckon they're doing it to poke fun at legislators. Before the ban on the selling 10 packs, whenever a shop ran out of 20's, the customer would just by 2 10 packs. Now with the ban, whenever the shop runs out, people are 'forced' to buy even more than they would have without a ban on 10 packs. :pac:

They were 9.75 a few weeks ago...clearly a ruse (don't ask me to explain it, i dont know what the ruse is... but something is amiss)

You can get a "maxibox" in Germany with 28, a bit too big for your pocket though and very easily squashed.

Im off the regular smokes just over 2 months since i got my ecig. I think theyre the best thing that that ever happened. I get my stuff at the vapourstore.ie. I used to spend €70 odd quid a week on fags now id say about a tenner a week for the ejuce and feel much healthier. no turning back!

Do you find that it satisfies your cravings? I'd be interested in moving to one but while trying out a friends I wasn't getting much of a hit out of it, I presume it takes the body time to adapt to it.

They are trying to get you to buy a pack for € 10. They will round a pack of fags to 23 or whatever to the value of € 10 ,it will drop in contents size to around 15 or 16, then they will make the fags smaller ( less tobacco and smaller size) as long as they can get away with it for the same price.

This use to be common in the UK for fags sold in vending machines.

i quit smoking the day I got mine. your friend might not have been vaping high enough strength juice for your cravings, or it might just have been a crappy kit

you can get some ecigs in pharmacies and londis but they aren't very good. might work for some people, might not for others as performance with them is inconsistent at best.

afaik all the irish sites bar 1 or 2 take laser
there's a list of them in the where to buy thread, first post

have a look around, and look on youtube for reviews of products. igetcha69,pbusardo,grimmgreen 3 good ecig reviewers. should help you make your mind up. or you can just make a thread on the vaping forum whenever

The ruse is you smoke a pack of cigarettes each day, they increase the size of the box along with the price and you still smoke a pack of cigarettes each day.

They've been going for months and were cheaper per ciggie but the price went up. When I asked, the guy in the shop said the cheaper price was just an intro offer
