A coward is all he is. Aguero went to have words to his face after Tevez went down. Then once the red was shown he went behind Aguero and had a kick.

Then Kompany came in and chest barged him, Barton tried his little half hearted headbutt but showed no interest in fighting off people to get back at Kompany like he tried to with Balotelli. Then again going at someone head on has never been how Barton does things on the pitch.

Nowt more than an angry little man with hard man notions about himself.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him join West Ham next season if they go up and offer to match his QPR wage. Him and Nolan in the same team:

Ah in fairness we have one to Del Piero and Inzaghi. What's one more to another player we'll probably never see again.

Just seeing it again on MOTD. Tevez has a swing and Barton retaliates. Then he's sent off. At that stage thats about it, then Ageuro seems to start mouthing off at him and the scuffle starts (thats all it is, not even handbags) and Barton goes mad. Then its all calm and Balotellis sticks his oar in, well after the whole thing is over and starts it up again.

Obviously he shouldnt have retaliated and elbowed Tevez back or kneed ageuro but he obviuosly cant have hit either very hard cos they were both up after a short bit and shouting the odds. It take surprisingly little to cut someones face and Tevez hasnt a mark on him. You'd have to wonder if he caught him with anything more than a brush. Tevez probably hit Barton harder than Barton hit Tevez.

Having to be escorted off the pitch is enough though. Should never happen when someone is sent off. Anyway he took all the bait, he'll get a hefty ban accordingly

How did Aguero keep annoying him. he rightfully confronted him after he elbowed his teammate.

Balotelli was warming up on the sideline. Was very harmless at that stage saying anything would've riled Barton up.

Aguero keeps going over to Barton throughout the incident, there's no need to even get involved. And Barton didn't elbow him either from what I've seen, childs play.

Fellow Newcastle fan and I'm disappointed tbh that you're standing up for him. Seeing this makes me delighted he's out of our club. We got on nicely without him too this season. Played a nice role in our relegation too. Remember Shearer was fuming with him at the time. Tbh don't know how any club could put up with him.

Wouldn't mind if he manned up and apologised properly after but coming out and saying that he tried to get someone else sent off with him is quite scummy if you don't mind me saying. And alos trying to justify his behaviour

The guy clearly has issues and needs to get sorted out. Has the potential to be a tremendous player, wasted it all. Should have been in a position to be starring for his country in a few weeks.

    Agree 100% there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm much happier without him at NUFC but he can't do anything without being scrutinized.
He was quite calm and collected during his last two seasons at Newcastle, and a fantastic midfielder when he wanted to be.

Stupid act today no doubt, but blown out of proportion per usual.
    Boring at this stage.

    Just like you Paully_D, boring.

Glad someone actually looked at the footage properly, instead of a lot reading Tweets and mouthing off that Joey Barton should be banned for life..

Players try to wind each other up and do things all the time on the field with the intention of making them hit out etc, some of the things that are said and done are awful, but there's not many players that react to it every single time like Barton does.

    He just can't help himself.

I haven't once denied that he isn't, on the pitch at least. Very intelligent person really, just rash & has anger issues.

Disappointed with Cabaye for that, as you would've read over in the NUFC Superthread, and you definitely did read it, so another pointless remark..

Watching it on motd it looked fairly harmless with tevez, with tevez looking to get him sent off by going to ground, they were both dragging off each other, there might be a better angle out there of what happened.

Exactly! Graeme Le Saux had some ordeal. I assume players get all sorts of insults. They are professional enough not to react as that's what the opposition wants. Can see teams targeting Barton next season if he plays :D

I'm not talking about his Tweets at all.

I'm talking about people coming onto this thread, that have seen journalists Tweets on their timeline, haven't even seen the incident in depth, and have added their their stupid remark or dig like "Scumbag" etc,. Comments which have absolutely nothing to do with the thread at all.

Anyway, all in all - it doesn't bother me since we finished 5th and have a better midfield without him. ;)

Honest question. can someone please explain what the benefit of messages like this are to Barton? These players are coached on PR during their formative years so I don't see what is the point of sending out messages like this? Is it a deliberate ploy to push his profile or is he just another idiot with a phone?

He hired someone to change his public image and this was around about the same time his Twitter account came on the scene and his quotes from philosophers started popping up. I remember at the time people were saying he must be very intelligent, just misunderstood etc because the way he was coming across on there.

Seems a leopard doesn't change it's spots though and it took a few months, but he eventually has reverted back to what he actually is.

    An open letter to Joey.
    Alright twat features?

I’m seeing my arse here as you’ve made such a bad show of yourself today, that I have finally been tipped over the edge and I’m having to put pen to paper on you, on a Sunday night. My Sunday Dinner hasn’t even settled yet, and I don’t think it will tonight due to the fact that you remain in the world. Quiff and all.

People have been asking me to do a letter to you for a while. Could never be arsed wasting my time on you, but, well, then TODAY happened.

    As a person, you’re despicable.

You come from a family of pure ****. THE FACTS:

Your brother and your ‘cousin’ murdered Anthony Walker, the young black lad, just because he was black. #RIP

Your ‘cousins’ murdered an innocent Dad #RIP
    And you:
    • May 2005 you broke a guy’s leg while driving your car through Liverpool city centre at 2 am.
    • March 2007 you got arrested for suspicion of assault on a taxi driver and criminal damage.
    • May 2008 you got 6 months in prison for assault and affray outside McDonalds.
    • July 2008 you got a four months suspended sentence for assault and ABH on a Man City team mate, ending your Man City career. You also got charged by the FA for violent conduct.

You & 'your family' are the kind of people that give Liverpool a bad name.

    As a footballer, you’re despicable.

I'm not going to back track at all your other attention seeking sendings off, like the headbutt v Norwich which got you a straight red and QPR then lost 1-2 at home.

Its today that’s pissed me off.

Your team were fighting to avoid relegation, and you act the **** and get a red card.
Then…. Your actions AFTER your red card? Just shouldn’t be seen on a football pitch. Your scum genetics took over and you kick out at Aguero who had nothing to do with your sending off. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a City fan. And I’d rather have them win the league than Utd, so in a way THANKS FOR THAT.

But now you’re mouthing off on twitter about “who gives a ****” .. and how you did what you had to do. And who cares, you stayed up, that’s all that matters? And that you are off to CELEBRATE?? Celebrate??? You should be sent home to sit on the ****ing naughty step lad.

Your team survived by the skin of your yellow teeth today. A penalty at Stoke v Bolton is what saved you. And you are ****ing lucky. Otherwise you and “your team” would be down, pretty much because of you. And no offence to any QPR fans reading, but I ****ing wish you had gone down just to teach your smug rat tashed ****ing face a lesson.

And then you start tweeting that a team mate told you to “take one of the city players with you”. Bad disgrace that. You should be banned for life. No place for players like you. The media are going to be all over that tweet, and all QPR players will get tarred with the cheating brush. Well done lad. There’s no I in team is there? But there’s a ****ing I in prick!

And setting aside the fact that you did it. Now you’re grassing? You can’t live life grassing that someone else told you to do something? Be your own man.

Mind you, Rick Astley told you to get that hair cut you’ve got, didn’t he.

Bottom line is, “Joseph”, underneath all your controversy and the BIG I AM act that you constantly hide behind, is the fact that you just aren’t that good. ARE YOU?

So you act up, stir controversy, mouth off, kick out, and play the big guns on twitter, to keep a name for yourself. Don’t you?

Lad, you play for a team that just survived relegation by an ant’s penis, and you’ve got the same amount of England caps as that David Nugent . ONE. ****ing David Nugent. Says it all. Thing is though, Nugent was born in Huyton too. But, guess what, he isn’t a bad disgrace to Merseyside. Or humans in general, is he?

Assess your life, lad. Assess your life. Because me and all the people that read and retweet this are telling you, you are ****ing bad at it.

Was the premiership then and how long ago it was is irrelavant. Also one of the greatest strikers them league has seen. Still not a Shearer fan but get your facts in order.

There was chatter about him joining Liverpool last summer, i'd like to say i'm glad he didn't but considering the pack of soft cocks we did sign and how our season went i probably wouldnt have minded if we did sign him looking back. Still though the chap's a bad egg.
