Maybe Irish women just have inflated expectations. Irish men can't be that ugly either - otherwise they wouldn't be doing so well with the foreign women. Either that or the foreign women don't place as much emphasis on looks, which is also a good thing!

I never said Irish women are unattractive, just that they have high expectations (or at least a lot of them anyway.) Yes I would agree that foreign women are not picking Irish men because of their looks, which as I said is a good thing. They obviously like a nice guy with a good personality, seen as how Irish men apparently haven't been blessed in the looks department.

My E.European missus and her friends tell me that there is a wide disparity in attractiveness among Irish men and women, in favour of Irish men. The biggest issue is weight. Generally Irish men are quite active and therefore slim, athletic with decent muscle tone. Irish women are not.

I agree that E.European women are attracted by more than how Irish men look. Often E.European men are very socially and sexually conservative, many Polish and Czech girls I know use the word 'boring'. Also there might be a financial aspect, that women are subconsciously attracted to someone who can provide for their offspring or consciously seeking material comforts.All part of human nature.

In fairness, these are generalisations just as false as all those made about Irish women on here.

I don't think Irish men generally have inflated egos: some do and some don't, but I'd say, out of the men I know, most don't.
I think the number of threads here featuring male posters who appear to have confidence issues, especially pertaining to women, suggests that though this lack of confidence/understanding might sometimes manifest itself as bluster, we're not an egotistical lot, by and large.

Similarly, I don't think Irish men in general are not so good looking. There might be a higher proportion of men in other countries on the continent who have a type of look generally favoured by a number of Irish women, but it can't be said other nationalities are noticeably better looking, and with a sizeable number of better-looking men.
You can still see plenty of good-looking Irish men just walking down the street, and in the last few years there has been an apparent increase in the number of men looking after themselves and exercising regularly, and making a little effort in terms of their appearance.
It's ridiculous to say that in general we haven't been blessed with good looks. A lot of people have been.

I think people, particularly men, going by the number of threads about women we have, should stop thinking so much about the opposite sex and what they want/think.
Just get out there and interact with them normally.

Plus I'm not seeing this mass female fatness epidemic in Ireland - but whatever makes some people feel better. Over the last few days I've noticed lots of gorgeous, fun Irish people in Dublin and Cork, male and female. And as said, people are looking after themselves better. I think it's amusing too the way any suggestion that those who go out of their way to be really disparaging to the opposite sex here must be bitter and projecting about bad experiences is met with such hostility and defensiveness. It's OBVIOUSLY the case - what's so unreasonable about coming to such a logical conclusion?
