    Lots of time but the sooner you get into it the better. Also, the better you know yourself the more successful you will be in designing a plan. If there were any areas you neglected in the lead up to your previous marathon (long runs, marathon pace runs, tempo runs etc.) this would be a good time to address that area.

    Had been feeling some improvement in last couple of days with my injury so ask a colleague at work who is also qualified physio to check me over. He reckons I probably suffered a small muscle tear and should be ok to run soon.

    So am doing some work on static bike this week and stretching and core work with the intention of going for a short run on Sunday(maybe 3-4 miles) to see how it feels. If it is all good will go back training next week.

    This leads me to my question. After missing week 6 and 7 of HHInter1 how should I re-enter my training plan. Bearing in mind I am signed up for Ten Mile in race series on Aug 25th and Glasgow Half on Sept 2nd?

    I presume it might not be a good idea to just go in and do week 8 per plan??

    I don't know what injury you had, but the idea of racing 2 weeks after coming back from a muscle tear sounds crazy to me! As for the HH plan, I'd say ignore it for this week and only do easy running. If you're feeling sore/tight then stop and stretch - this week should only be about getting back into the habit of regular running, with no pressure about pace, distance etc.

    I just took a quick peek at the HH Inter 1 plan and it didn't seem like a big difference between the two weeks. I think the best bet though would be to make up something yourself. For example, aim to be back on the HH plan in 3 weeks. Run this week to feel (nothing strenuous!) and then review how you felt at the end of the week. Based on that come up with a plan for the next 2 weeks that will have a gradual progression and leave you ready to rejoin the plan without any big jumps in mileage. There's no point being sensible this week and then relaunching yourself straight into the plan - it's too big a jump. A gradual build up would be better.

    Short run today to see how the injury reacts. No reaction. WoooHooo...I'm back in the game! Feels so good to notch at least one run up this week. Felt good on the run ,maybe have lost a little fitness aerobically but can get that back no problem .Just need to be careful now not to do too much too soon.

    Pressure is on now to stay injury free and make that start line in October. My Charity fundraiser pack arrived in post today.

    I have joined the Irish Cancer Society Run4Life team. Did it last year too as a lot of my family have been affected by the disease. Anybody else running for a charity this year?

    Hi Liamog,
    I hear ya about the injury, just above my left knee is very sore since my 10km on sunday. I wonder if the speedwork schedules, push us too much too soon.
    My plan had me pb'ing at the end of week 4. I think i shoulda used my head and eased off on that by a few minutes.
    oh well, live and learn. a trip to the physio i reckon for me this week.

    Have done two runs this week so far on the road back from injury, 4 mile and 5 miles. Feeling a niggle but no pain at all which is very positive. Will do another 4 mile on sat with maybe 8 LSR on Sunday. Have been cross training on the exercise bike and core work on off days so feeling like I am back in proper training again.

    If this week all goes well will hopefully build up the mileage a bit next week with the Race Series 10 mile on the saturday.Won't race it but may try PMP and see how that feels.

    Off to A.King tomorrow for Gait analysis and new runners. Will be interesting to see if they recommend the pair I have now or a different brand/model.

    haven't had many problems with existing ones. Should I be loathed to change or trust totally in their advice?
