    I frickin hate this period of taper. Everything is either sore or tight. Running 3 miles @ 8.00 min pace takes as much effort as 14 miles @ 7.45 did four weeks ago and my legs feel like I've just run 20.

    This is normal, right ?

    Echo that Cambo, lower mileage week and I definitely don't feel 100% marathon fit. What is going on ?

    No run since Thursday. Working yest till after midnight,today till 8pm and back in again tomorrow, so missed todays run too. Wrecked tired, having been eating properly all week and to top it all off woke up on Friday with a worrying niggle in Hip Flexor. It intermittently affects me while I'm walking.

    8 m LSR planned for tomorrow (if I can fit it in with work) hopefully the niggle is nothing to worry about.

    Quiet week in term of runs - as prescribed. 8 mile this morning was the last LSR although I ran at race pace. I'm eating all around me this last week!! :pac:cant seem to stop - what's that about? Will go for a swim tomorrow and take it nice and easy for the final week. Feeling optimistic having got this far - Ive put the miles in so, if all goes to plan, I will PB under 4hours.

    I've enjoyed posting and reading here over the past few months, helps to keep motivated and focused. I'll be sticking to the 4 hour pacers so may see some of you at the start line!

    Best of luck this week - staying free of injury and germs!

    11 miles today with my new leg :-) , felt great albeit a bit tight still. Really loosened up after 4m and was just a dull ache but grand by the end.
    Great to get a decent run in, really gave me confidence for next Monday.

    Plan for this week is to do a couple of 4-5m runs with some strides.
    Massage with 'magic elbows lady' on Tuesday.
    On Sat, I'll head to the expo and do a very short run on Sun to shake the legs out.

    Carb depletion before Carb load, anyone??

    Bid an emotional farewell to large parts of my regular circuit today, with the last of the medium/long runs (19km). I have no idea when I'll next run some of those streets!

    In uncharted territory right now, feeling pretty good leg-wise and endurance is fine - but I am now going to spend the next week agonising over target time and race strategy. Looking forward to taper-mad contributions on this thread...

    9 miles @PMP tonight. Eventually got out at 9pm! Its been a tough week at work and visit to docs so glad to get this run in.

    Time to focus on eating well, hydrating, getting plenty of rest, lots of foam rolling and stretching next week.

    Didn't get my 12 Mile LSR done yesterday as per the P&D < 55 plan. As this plan is based on a Sunday marathon, doing it tonight which is still 7 days before DCM should be alright shouldn't it?

    Yup. That's fine. I'll do all my lsrs on Monday. Technically, you'll have an extra day this week if you follow it per Sunday.

    Soo..just like Runningking, the physio worked on my stiff lower back and on that pesky glute. She recommended that I stretch and apply heat to the sore area. Had a nice couple of radox baths ( brought me back to my childhood really, all i needed was a few shampoo bottle tops to play with !:pac:).
    So after two sessions and a few baths the glute is much, much better.
    Did a final 20km LSR yesterday and didnt feel it tighten up.
    Last session this morning with the physio and I should be ready to go!!

    Hope you are not too bad , if you are worried you should really book a physio session ASAP !!

    Cheers Mr W. I've done the same re radox baths. Childhood flashbacks indeed. Two over the weekend. Feels much better. Did some stretching immediately afterwards and didn't feel a thing. 6km run on Saturday and that went ok. 10 miles this afternoon so see how this goes.

    Friend of mine developed a stress fracture on his final longish run on Saturday. Feel sick for him. I always reckon making the start line fully fit is more than half the battle.

    Did 3m today, felt like my best run for the last 3 weeks. Didn't feel any niggles or tired.
    Hope this is a good sign that all the prep is done and need to just rest up for the week.
    Plan is 4m Tues and 2m Fri, eat well and hydrate.

    can i change waves in the dcm as am entered into wrong wave. registered in last waves but should be runnin in the wave 1sub 3.15 time as hoping to break 3.05. my fiancee entered me as a present and didnt realise about the waves. is it hard to jump into first wave and are they strict about it. be really upset if i couldnt. please can any1 fill me in

    can i change waves in the dcm as am entered into wrong wave. registered in last waves but should be runnin in the wave 1sub 3.15 time as hoping to break 3.05. my fiancee entered me as a present and didnt realise about the waves. is it hard to jump into first wave and are they strict about it. be really upset if i couldnt. please can any1 fill me in

    There is a Desk at the expo where you can request to move up a wave. They put a sticker on your bib I think.

    Desk on the right hand side as you enter the main hall, (thats were it was last year), they'll put a sticker on your race number. (Obviously get your number 1st!!)

    Thanks. Would they let ya skip 2 waves? And do ya thnk i could break 3.05 in wave 2? Only prob for me is i wont be in dublin til late sun eve due to work and as my felo friend and runner is collectin my race mumber wil they give the sticker to him? Thanks for your time

    Right knee very stiff and sore after 19km LSR on Sunday. A bit worried that I won't make the start line frown.png. I might take another day or 2 rest and see how it goes. I did have a similar flare up with my right knee 2 weeks after DCM 2010. I rested a week, it improved a bit and I ran a tester 3 miles and had no problem.
