Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Go somewhere else then

Sort of hard to when your choice of pub is limited to two that both have bands. I have no problem with bands playing but there is no need to play so loud that no one can talk or be heard.

I ring and text on my phone, that's it! Luckily enough my mates are pretty much the same, only reason they would ever be on the net on their phone is to look up a latest score in a game not on TV or a horse racing result. That usually means that more than one of us wants to know. Can't say phones have ruined the pub banter for me!

God your needy, can I not just check my emails? I have work and personal emails to look at, I'm a busy man and your terribly boring.

Well no you are missing the point. It's ok to take phone calls or check texts or whatever, but people who are LITERALLY constantly on facebook or texting non stop drive me insane! A couple of my friends do it and I've said it to them a few times about it.

You need to text or phone someone, I see no problem, I see a problem with being on the phone for the night when there is no need whatsoever. It's very anti-social.

Also the use of "smart" phones(were the old ones that stupid) has ruined the common pub quiz which is an absolute travisty

I hate when someone you're with at the pub asks if there's free WiFi. Seriously, why didn't you just stay at home?

And miss out on great threads like this while having a pint!?

Why would they ask me to go to the pub with them in the first place then? :p

My mates use Facebook on my behalf more than I actually use it myself. Had to tell a few to stop checking me in places and tagging me in photos.

Cameras are a far bigger scourge on nights out that phones will ever be. Every drunkin move gets captured and tagged.

Nah have to disagree here. I don't mind the camera brigade at all once they're happy to just snap away and aren't trying to orgainise a photo

You can change your privacy options on Facebook, so that anything you're tagged in doesn't show automatically on your page, and you get notification to approve it

Yea I'm too cool to check in on my phone
Never said I didn't use Facebook, just said I wasn't on it all night in the pub :D
The funniest is when people tag/checkin themselves as they go along, and then delete the posts the next day :p

Photos on nights out just case hassle in my opinion. The amount of agro I've seen caused where harmless photos are taken out of context by a boy/girlfriend that wasn't there, photos that make you look like a complete fool etc etc.

I actually don't mind a group photo or two its the snaps you don't even know are being taken of you that are the problem.

What wrong with it either though? Its just a bit of fun, saying where you are and who is out with you.

I hate the 'check in' thing on fb....I don't care where you are, get off your phone and enjoy yourself!

I remember when mobiles came in first and I went out to dinner with a friend, she spent half the meal texting her new boyfriend. I made a joke of it...'have you checked he's still alive, you haven't heard from him in 10 mins' lol

But yes, its absolutely ridiculous to be out of a night and to be checking the internet the whole time. If your online life is better than your actual social life, that's really, really sad! :P

Yes! Definitely! I hate the photo brigade...half the time the night is ruined by the 'say cheese' carry on. So much..'ooh look at us having a great time' nonsense.

Nothing I hate more than when having an intellectual debate, or maybe throwing a few sports questions to a few of my friends, some douche gets out his iPhone and has an answer in a second. Used to spend hours quizzing each other, part of the socialising.

Can't have good old-fashioned banter anymore.

To show everyone how popular and social they are of course!

When done several times a week from the local pub it really just becomes a bit sad though.

Yea, the odd time is grand but non-stop is a bit much.

So many people constantly post their current location so many times a day that I'm able to locate where they are at any given time.

Handy if I ever wanted to rob their houses :)

Sorry, I just hate that phrase! I'll hunt down anyone that I see using it, because lets be honest, every problem is a first world problem ;)

Pubs are too loud, why scream over the drunkards when you can just text or tweet your friends. Your round @mate.

People just use the phones as an excuse to pretend to do something as they feel socially awkward or left out. You see it all the time, and not just in the pub.
