Ouch, pretty disappointing. Doesn't sound good that the Wii U can only handle current gen engines.

It can handle it, Unreal just don't see it as viable.
PS4 and 720 are expected to be x86. tablets etc., x86.
Wii U, PPC. Would you bother with Nintendo's record of third party support?

A massive blow nonetheless (though not unexpected.) They're looking to support indie developers bigtime with Unreal 4, with Rein claiming that PS4 title Primal Carnage has a development team comprised of just 20 people. The way things are shaping up, Nintendo will really need support from indies to bolster their line-up.

    it handle unreal engine 3

because Mass Effect 3 came out for wii u last 30th of November

why just use the unreal engine 3

compressize unreal to suit wii u

like capcom did with resident evil 4 because GameCube version was too powerfull for pc, xbox and ps2,

Nintendo are using Unity and Web Framework to court indies.

Whatshis face has said porting ue4 games to wii u is easily doable, but they're not porting the engine.
Not sure how that works, maybe they'll have a ue4 to 3 magic or something, or just disabling certain effects would do it?

That makes more sense, given all their comments about how scalable the engine is.

Depends on the game I suppose, but if we're talking some fancy ue4 game I'd imagine any port would involve gimping it.

It was too demanding for ps2 and they got a crap version, but it was never going to be on xbox. And it makes no sense to say it was 'too powerful' for pc.

It appeared on the eshop for a few hours and was pulled by Nintendo and amazon shipped out some their PAL versions, all a bit of a mess

And has been since Xmas. Think I'll just go with the Steam version at this stage...not waiting the best part of a year for this. One sale lost

Just as a matter of interest, is there a link about the Scribblenauts delay? Just don't see any news later than February when search for it

we need third party games to keep public interested and aliens is big market, aliens fan may just buy just buy it to keep their aliens collection going, plus its growup games and wii u needs growup games as possible so adults come much interested as kids due.

Eww...but Colonial Marines was not going to have that effect on anyone.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭wampyrus77

but it might convince other companies to stop producing their games on the wii u

like splinter cell, gta v, skyrim, dablo, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, resident evil 6, metal gear solid,

A crap game will do no good for anyone, it wont convince publishers about anything.

Agreed, the Wii U would do well to avoid rubbish like ACM. Rubbish games do not good at all, & better off with fewer good games rather than loads of poo ones

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭wampyrus77

i hope see splinter cell in august but none of stores in ireland see prepared for wii u versions even so wikipedia says its coming

i only see xbox 360 and ps3 review reserve orders only, they not taking any wii u preorders now why?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,693 ✭✭✭Deano7788

Why would anyone pre-order it 4-5 months before release? i don't even see the point in preordering at all, unless it's something that's going to sell out (GTA perhaps).

No Wii U version of this game has been confirmed although it has been strongly rumoured.

With Nintendo's renewed commitment to adult gamers I have my fingers crossed for Hotline : Mushroom Kingdom, the most violent Mario game since jump man first clubbed an endangered primate to death with a massive hammer.

Nobody said it wasn't going to happen. Your question was why couldn't you pre-order Splinter Cell Blacklist for the Wii U. The answer is because it doesn't officially exist. You can confirm this from the Splinter Cell Balcklist Homepage (which would be the obvious starting point)

    Just for you :P

Exclusive Wii U feature: you can give speech bubbles to the monsters. No, really.

Edit: There are no new levels - or anything else even remotely that interesting. Shinier graphics, a harder difficulty mode, some new characters for online play, and a bunch of unannounced DLC stuff (which you'll have to pay for), are pretty much what's confirmed so far.
