Selling a Telescope

Hi, I bought a Nexstar 4se telescope at Christmas with a 7 power amp and one of those optical kits, I think it's worth over 1000 euro. I haven't opened it yet because I haven't got a chance and now I could really do with the money! Ha! What are the chances of me being able to sell the telescope? Say at a reduced price…

Hi,

I haven't opened it yet because I haven't got a chance and now I could really do with the money! Ha! What are the chances of me being able to sell the telescope? Say at a reduced price obviously!! It hasn't been opened or even moved from the hall. Is there a market for telescopes? Where would be the best place to sell it?

At this stage I don't know whether to keep it or not!

It's worth nowhere near €1,000. Amazon UK is selling them for £479 excl. P&P so you'd need to be asking no more than €400 given that probably 6 months of the warranty has already expired, assuming the warranty is transferable.

I paid 815 euro for it which was a sale price down from something like 1100??

Just realised you hadn't paid attention to my post. it's the telescope with a 7 power amp thing and an optical kit worth 200 euro.

Brand new around the €800 mark sounds about right, quoted reductions on RRP prices on telescopes among other things are always over valued, its usually only indicative of the original RRP when the product may have first launched. After years/months even some reputable stores quote an original launch price and then a reduced price that normally only reflects the potential bargain of not buying at launch but which is not the current RRP. Many stores online or otherwise use that practice.
