Notice of non-renewal of fixed-term lease

    Hi all,
    The lease of the apartment I'm currently living in is due to expire at the end of this month (May). It was a 9-month lease. I am leaving the apartment as I leave the country.
    My question is do I have to give prior notice for not renewing the lease.

    I would need some legal reference for supporting that point. Did not find anything in the 2004 Act. No lease was provided. The letting agent did not get in touch with me for the whole year.

    Another question: did my lease automatically turn into a Part 4 tenancy agreement after 6 months? I did not sign anything (neither at the beginning, nor after 6 months).

    I would much appreciate your help, I'm starting to panic (I know, it's about time...).

    Just give them a letter confirming that as per the original agreement, the lease expires on whatever date in May it is due to expire, and give them a forwarding address.
