Swinford Tidy Towns is looking for some help (we're not asking you to pick litter) although if you could spare an hour, we meet either at the no name club on chapal st, or outside the hotel on main st @ 7pm wednesday evenings and @ 11am on saturday mornings.
If you don't have the time that's fine, but one way you could be a huge help is if you "like" our facebook page; www.facebook.com/swinfordtidytowns
We also have a website www.swinfordtidytowns.com where you can keep up to date with all thats happining, reports from our weekly meetings, and view our photo gallery.
Help us to promote swinford in a positive way.

    Thank you,
    Swinford Tidy Towns Committee.

Swinford Tidy Towns 2012 Clean Street League

Swinford Tidy Towns Initiative 2012 are launching a Clean Street League on the 24th May. The league will be based on a monthly inspection by independant adjudicators who will judge each participating street under the criteria of general appearance, presentation of street, litter control, tidiness, flower/shrub presentations. The streets to be included in the league are as follows: Main St, Market St, Bridge St, Brookville Ave, Circular Road, Station Rd, Davitt Place, Pound Lane, Chapel St, Riverside, Kilkelly Rd, Kiltimagh Rd, Park Rd, Ballina Rd and Dublin Rd. We are inviting residents from each street to form a working group and transform each street in order to be the first winner of the 2012 Clean Street League. This event is intended to be an annual event with the winner receiving a perpetual award to display on their street. So get out there and see how you can transform where you live for the residents of your area and the betterment of the community as a whole. Lets make Swinford a clean environment for our visitors but most importantly for ourselves. For further information contact any member of the Swinford Tidy Towns Initiative 2012 to see what you can do.

    Lets Paint Swinford Weekend

As part of the Swinford Tidy Towns initiative 2012 the first of our Lets Paint Swinford weekends will take place on Friday 29th June, Saturday 30th June and Sunday 01st July. This will involve a fun packed weekend of Paint, Brushes and People. We have a number of community areas chosen to brighten up and plan on blitzing as many as we can over this weekend. We will complete the weekend with an outdoor party to celebrate on the Sunday evening. All help on the weekend will be greatly appreciated and we are calling on all members of our community, young and old to come along and get involved.
Any spare paint that may be taking up room in your shed or garage would be greatly appreciated to help with this project. We will be holding a collection point for any such paint and/or tools in Swinford No Name Club ( situated beside Dr Glaveys surgery) on Sat 1,2,3rd June from 11am – 5pm .
The Lets Paint Swinford Weekend promises to be great fun and will help brighten up Swinford and make it a better place to live, work and visit. For more information on this project and the many other projects we are currently implementing please visit us at www.swinfordtidytowns.com and www.facebook.com/swinfordtidytowns
We meet every Thursday at 8pm in the Gateway Hotel for a group discussion so please feel free to come along if you would like to get involved in this positive initiative.

The painting blitz will take place on Sat 30th June at 10am and Sun 1st July starting at 12am. We will meet at Swinford Carpark behind Melletts on that morning. We have been awarded the Dulux Lets Colour project for the carpark and designs are now being done for murals on the front facing walls. All of the carpark will be done both inside and outside as this has been a major eyesore for some time. We are asking that as many people as possible join us on these two days or for part off to do this project for the benefit of the town. A barbeque will take place at 5pm in the carpark for volunteers and residents of Swinford and surrounding areas, your attendance would be gratefully appreciated. Music will be provided by Everyday Solution and DJ Pidge.

Due to the bad weather at the moment, the painting blitz had to be postponed.
We are hoping to hold it next weekend, weather permitting.
