Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I burnt myself off of a dish once, but I found that making an effort to remember they're hot and to be more careful solved the problem. HTH OP.

Come gather around and I'll tell a tale now.
Of where I got burned, and with what, and just how.
I prepared a meal and it smelled so delish.
I placed it inside an invisible dish.

But how to partake of this most tasty grub.
When I noticed I'd left my mouth back in the pub.
I thought of a plan and it came to me sudden.
I'd pour the food straight in through my belly button!

    Alas that fair dish, it had bided its time;
As I lifted it up to that tummy of mine.
It turned 'round and stung like a transparent bee.
That's two wins for the dish, and no wins for me.

This glass dish was so transparent that it made all the stuff on top of it invisible, yeah?

    I see. Very good.

    / backs out slowly. From.
    Thread.

    Very.

    Slowly.

I know it's a silly question, but what is the OP asking ?

Is it "Why are see through things see through ?"

Note they don't seem to be asking "how can I stop this from happening again ?" Or "how did this invisible evilness come to be in my house ? In my kitchen ? In my hands ? Aaaaagh, now it's trying to get inside my body."

    hahaha this is gold

A WOMAN INVENTED THE PYREX DISH

    The History of Pyrex Glass

Pyrex is durable and affordable glassware most frequently used for baking. Pyrex was invented in 1913, when Bessie Littlejohn, the wife of the vice president of Corning Glass Works, asked her husband to bring home something from the factory that could be used as a piece of oven-safe cookware. Inspired by her suggestion, the company's scientists began developing a new line of cookware. Two years later, Corning Glass Works released a complete line of glass baking dishes. Pyrex products are still sold today in many stores.

    Mikipedia:

Pyrex was originally developed for naked table lunging belly burning ceremonies.
It was only after this it was noticed it was good to cook food in too.

I love this thread. Haven't a bleedin clue what the OP is on about, but that's the charm.

You can be sure it was a man who invented it, buddy. The only thing women have ever invented are babies, and that still took the assistance of men :D

glass dishes are see through so we can see your belly when you are naked or wearing a crop top and cooking at the same time.

men are perverts, men invented pyrex,

unexpected sideeffect: bimbo burning herself with belly-viewing device, we didn't see that coming (maybe if it hadn't been see-through we would have...)

Bessie Littlejohn (a woman) invented pryex in 1913... google it if you don't believe me.

    her idea = her invention

google it... Bessie Littlejohn invented it in 1913 :) men had no reason to invent one back then as cooking was the woman's job ;)

Bessie Littlejohn suggested it... it's not the same as inventing it

That's even less clear than the OP.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

her idea... if she didn't suggest it then her husband wouldn't have had a reason to develop pyrex.

    her idea means her invention.

you can patent a concept without ever actually building one.

given that she was married to the vice ceo of a glassware co. i dont think she was a transexual even back then...if they did they were likely to get lynched as homosexuality was illegal back then

Its amazing isn't it that not one other person posting here has suffered this apparently COMMON injury ?

Oh I have had it happen, and similar, on a number of occasions.

I assumed it was because I am short and a klutz. It never even crossed my mind to blame men as the inventors of transparent cookware...
