I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I honked again. Since this was going to be my last ride of my shift I thought about just driving away, but instead I put the car in park and walked up to the door and knocked.. ‘Just a minute’, answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.
After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90’s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940’s movie.
By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.
There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard
box filled with photos and glassware.

Im not sure if you're being deliberately ignorant or not. But anyway to remove all doubt she was going to a hospice which is like a hospital but is actually where terminally ill patients go to die with dignity and in comfort (and with alot of morphine).

why no it would be fake if she left him her mansion in her will.
The guy was finishing work it was his last fare, he was giving an old lady a nice thoughfull send off instead of going home to veg on the couch for a couple of hours instead. believe it or not there are people out there who care about how they can make others feel selflessly

I didn’t pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day,I could hardly talk.

That's why I think it's fake, not the sentiment.

I saw that post on facebook last week and although I've always claimed to be quite cynical,I shed a genuine tear,now it may be complete bulls**t but it didn't matter to me cos it gave me hope in mankind.No one knows what's around the corner,just do on to others.......

I'd be more inclined to watch a poor film if it were a true story than a false one.
If it's a good film, then it doesn't matter.

127 Hours was ****e, for example. And if it hadn't happened people would have said the film was crap and completely contrived and unrealistic and even fewer people would have watched it.

This taxi-driver story isn't particularly exciting or interesting, and if it wasn't true or believed to be true (or potentially true) by its readers, then it carries no more weight, in my opinion, than the facebook story about the guy who donated his uterus to his gf to save her but died himself. Lik if u cri evry tym.
