Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So the parents should get away with breaking the law because they are parents?

    Not sure about that one.

Hey, they have the hazard lights on too you know, that makes it ok!
    Right?!

Ironic thing is, it is getting more dangerous for kids to walk/cycle to school because of all the parents dropping their own children at school. And the reason why? They are afraid for their little darliings!

Oh and the laziness too of course!

ps i do drive mine to school

Your right. I just feel for fat Johnny. His fat mother probably got to socialise to and from school with her friends. If only only fat Johnnies mother could remember the good times she had walking and socialising with her peers and seeing the world on two feet. Fat Johnny would be more rounded for the real world if he could get the opportunity to get out of the atrocious looking Jeep his fat lazy mother slogs him to school every day. Poor fat Johnny. His mother thinks she's safeguarding him against the rampant pedos who are hiding in EVERY bush in EVERY school ALL the time. But all she's really doing is turning him into a wimpy weasel.

Much easier to hassle tax paying parents than taking on absolute scumbags who race horses on dual carraigeways
Magicians use distraction techniques to draw the audience's attention away from whichever hand is engaged in sleight of hand. Magicians can accomplish this by encouraging the audience to look elsewhere.

I saw a child nearly killed because of some idiot who abandoned their car in the middle of the road, so no, its not just ACAB with nothing better to do.

Wish they'd do it down my way, brand new double yellow lines were painted outside the local school & the guys weren't even finished when the usual crew arrived and parked along them.

I'd hate to be dying & in need of an ambulance along that stretch of road when the school run is going on.

Where you pick up the child is not an issue. Where you park the car in order to do so is the issue. Is the school in question urban or rural and how far away do you live from it?

Urban 35 minute walk all paid parking close to city centre very densely populated area no free parking spaces.
Think it's the residents complaining might be some retired PS workers with a bit off pull. It's only twice a day can't see the problem myself.

    Solution:
    (a) get a bus
    or
    (b) pay for a parking space for ten minutes.

Traffic is bad enough around the city without having to deal with gobsh*te parents who cant/wont park correctly

I think the problem is that you're illegally parking twice a day, Monday to Friday in a densely populated area.

Residents would have a right to complain, not sure about the relevance of the PS workers.

Twice a day, frankly, is a bit rich, espeicall when one of those times is in rush hour. 35 minutes is walking distance.

Yes only twice a day multiplied by hundreds of cars.

    A couple of solutions:

1 car pool cuts the number of cars by 4
2 park car a nice 10 or 15 minute walk away and spend some quality time with 7 year old walking too and from school also good for health
3 use public transport prob cheaper than fuel
4 walk the whole 35 min walk on days when weather is good
5 arrange to meet other parents at a nice coffe shop a little walk away with nearby parking have a coffee and a catch up then take it in turns to collect children and walk back to coffee shop great ye all get turns to have a nice break

Their is no parking spaces available hence double parking to let kids off.

Was there many parking spaces when you made the decision to send your kids to that school?

I'm glad they're finally sorting this out. The amount of times I've had to turn out of the cycling lane just because lil johnnys parents are waiting for him along with all the other parents.

BTW if you have ever had the cheek of sitting in the cycle lane outside DCU waiting for your child and you get your wing mirror taken off, then you deserve it and you're lucky your side window hasn't been smashed in by handle bars.

Yeah, 'cause them being an inconvenience to some pauper who can't afford a car justifies their property being destroyed and then facing bills to repair or replace it.

Typical scumbag cyclist mentality. Just remember who paid for the roads you cycle your little pauper bike on. Then other cyclists why literally everyone else on the road despise them.

It's not just residents but also other transport users ie. pedestrians, motorists and cyclists who are restricted in movement.
And it's not just when the schools are opening and closing, some parents have been known to arrive an hour early to secure the prime illegal parking spots and sit in their cars oblivious and smug in the knowledge that no passing garda car will do anything.

    I have a car.

Yes, if I have the choice of either taking their mirrors off or have to turn into traffic, I'll take the mirror off any day, maybe a bit of paint too if I feel i need to be that close to ensure my safety.

These people are the kind of people that would also allow they're kids to cycle on the path and annoy pedestrians. They're kind of like you, almighty in they're car when they haven't really got a clue. Trying to make themselves all self appointed important, saps.

No parking on or off street within 5 to 15 min walk in any direction. BTW if car pooling with 1/4 the cars then logically no need to double park as less cars require the little spaces there.

one simple solution to all this illegal parking around schools/hospitals/creche is to make parking within 200 yards of a school a points offense,

only transport allowed stop should be disabled and school bus ,

this would push up the offenders insurance - becasue the only way of getting peoples attention these days is to hit them in the pocket

dont want to come across as victor " i don't believe it " meldrew but seriously some one is going to get killed out side our local school ,
even if the traffic is crawling all it takes is some little kid to bolt across the road to a buddy , and tragedy

i personally have seen 2 children killed outside schools - one was thrown at least 20 feet into the air - that sight will never leave me

but some parents still don't care as long as they don't have to walk a couple of feet - height of ignorance - shame on them

Oh so it's a question of breaking a mirror or turning into traffic? That you wouldn't have to move into the traffic anyway? Please, spare the bullsh1t attempts to defend your scumbag actions.

Although, should I say actions? since you most likely havent the balls to confront someone on the matter, let alone damage their property, just like all the other little hard men cyclists who make their threats yet all it amounts to is them wearing cameras on their helmets, going home and uploading it online to have a good circle jerk with the other little cyclist hooligans.

Let their children cycle on the footpaths, you mean the under 12s who are legally entitled to do so? Well, they're quite allowed, unlike the pure scumbaggery you're suggesting above.

Off topic but a genuine question (with no underlying implications), what car do you drive?

We had a thread about this a few weeks ago.

    No need for another one.

Oh and this isn't Twatter or Facemuck op, so next time add some sort of opinion and not just a few words giving out.
