Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i've seen that people have won these things
but i never see when they're on!

i'd love to give one a go
anyone have an idea if there's one of these things on soon ?

I watched an amazing/depressing/hilarious/shocking documentary about those competitions before. Can't remember the name but I'd say you could find it. It would put you off entering.

    Edit: Found it, ta-da! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116481/

Also there was an episode of this American life, which is a radio show called something for nothing which delved a bit more into the film talking to the main guy etc. that's where I first heard about the docu.

Driving it home covered in your own shít and piss without an ounce of dignity though would probably take the fun out of winning it.

Pretty sure they take toilet breaks. I think it's one of those odd american things like a throwback to the marathon dances of the depression. Promotional entertainment as a kind of public spectacle. TBH It sounds like a way to exploit desperate people to me.

UCCCork did it this year during RAG week with a car sponsored by the local garage.. they only get the car for a year though... and they got a 10 minute break every 2 hours I think.

I remember years ago seeing one of these competitions on Mad About You. I didn't think they really existed at the time!
