Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Is there a way to get your TV to go straight to a particular source channel?

    I have a '46 Samsung HD hooked up UPC box/PS3/ATV2/Wii .

When I switch on the TV I have to toggle through all the source channels to say find the HDMI output for the UPC box .

Its kinda annoying- reaching for right remote then selected particular source.

Is there a way that when I power up the UPC STB that it automatically goes to that HDMI channel ?
It used to be like this with my old STB connected via scart .

Its easily done with a decent universal remote like the logitech Harmony series or something similar.
A good universal remote is the only way out of this issue as far as I know.

HDMI's equivalent of scart switching was supposed to be the CEC line , however as this is programmable , manufacturers tried to use this line as a lock in and decided to use their own proprietary commands.

Samsungs is Anynet , Panasonics is Vieralink , Sony's is bravialink , and so on , and these only work if all your devices are from the same manufacturer.
So HDMI doesnt have a reliable auto switcher , and its all down to manufacturer greed.

Try turning on the STB first and giving it a few seconds (some can take 30 secs to get to output picture) and make sure everything connected by scart etc is powered off.

Is there not a HDMI button on the remote? There is on the newer models.

It detects a sky box straight away, so it must be something in the set up as it should automatically go to that source (HDMI)
try plugging it into a different HDMI input

I notice my TV will come up in the following order

    Scart
    HDMI 1
    HDMI 2
    and so on

It will latch on to the first signal that is present.

Maybe re-arranging the inputs would do what you need?
