Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He died quickly and peacefully. there he was swimming round his bowl he then slowly turned upside down then one final flick of his tail then gone. the big question is how should i send him on his way to fishy heaven. flushing him down the toilet seems trashy.

so lay him in his final resting plaice n top him off with mash. "Cremate" but do not incinerate..

bout an hour and a half at number 3.

Put him in your freezer. Future medical science may be able to revive him. I still have my goldfish frozen from when I was a child.

    I still miss him.

He just has a case of upsidedownitis, it's easily curable just turn the bowl up side down.

It doesn't manta what you do with your fish OP, just give it a nice final resting plaice.

I thought this was going to be a thread on the untimely passing of former Charlton Athletic defender Mark Fish.

Instead it's full to the gills of puns relating to a goldfish dying

Troy McClure will look after him in heaven.
You might remember him from such epics as...

    or

    Into the JAWS of kitty...

i found my fish dead this morning covered in bread crumbs, the gardai looked in to it for me, turns out he was battered to death.
    yup

    My dead fish ritual.

    Gather the kids round.
Scoop up said dead fish into best gravy jug.
    Transport solemnly to Water Closet.
    Gather around a CLEAN toilet.
    Bow heads.
MAke sure to use fishes name and say a few nice words - a fish eulogy. Invite kids to say a word or two.
    A few moments silence.
One last look for everyone gathered.
    Pour from jug to jacks.
    Cover with TP
    Who wants to flush?

I killed a fish once when I was young. Put him in my bed cause the water in his tank was too cold.

Serious coincidence - we had one died today - I'm going to try and replace him / her before the wee one notices. Very sad too - don't think it appropriate to laugh about it - any attempts at humour will only flounder!

"No, what I said is that she sleeps with the fishes.."

Best get a tortoise next time, longer lifespan than yourself means no more traumatic events like this one (unless you lose it that is).

Those warnings on fly spray are completely accurate. Cover fish bowls or everything that swims is gonna die.
