    Hi Guys,

Myself and the GF got 2 kittens last week and they're perfect. We were told to go get them their shots to protect against cat flu etc.

Do you guys know how much these shots cost?

They need 2 shots, the first one at around 9 weeks and the next a couple of weeks later. Cost should be around 35 euro each - you might get a discount for 2 since that includes the appointment.
Ask about neutering too, that will be the main expense coming up.

Vaccinations can cost anything between €30-€60, depending on the vet. As planetx said, you may get a discount if you are getting 2 done at the same time. They will need 2 vaccinations. You need to keep the kittens indoors until at least a week after their second vaccination to make sure they are fully covered and don't pick up anything. They will need a yearly booster too.

Definitely ask about neutering while you are there - kittens can be done quite young (and get pregnant very young too) so best to get it done sooner rather than later to aviod any unwanted accidents (and if they are male, you definitely want to get it done before they start spraying - very nasty situation!). Microchipping is also a must for any pet - once you register it to your name, your cat can be scanned if they end up straying or somewhere they aren't supposed to be and they can be returned to you!

Seeing as you're in Navan, there's microchipping in Equipet Navan on Sat 19th May. €15 per animal and all proceeds to the DSPCA.

I'd definitely ring around a few vets about prices for the Vacc's and for the neutering as there can be a difference and its definitely worth asking for a discount as you have the two. Did you get them from an animal shelter/charity? Some of them give discount vouchers for certain vets when you adopt from them.

Congrats on your new kittens :)
