Funeral Suits have announced a Whelan’s show for Thursday 7th June. Tickets €10.00 incl. booking fee from Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.ie. Tickets on sale now.
Influenced by a plethora of artists including Radiohead, The Knife, Mogwai and Animal Collective, they have managed to embrace the music they love, while still managing to produce a sound which is very much their own. Consisting of band members Brian James (vocal/guitar) , Mik McKeogh (bass, synth),Greg McCarthy (drums) and Dar Grant, the final lineup was completed in 2011, shortly before the release of their debut single ‘Colour Fade’ through Friends vs. Records. They have received stellar support from the likes of Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, Steve lamaq, Huw Stephens and the highly influential Stephen Street(The Smiths, Blur) who has been on board from the very start, while also producing the bands new album ‘Lily of the Valley’ out June 4th.

Funeral Suits are essentially four young Irish guys with a passion for blistering harmonious pop, art rock, electronica and distorted guitars, which results in their music reaching dark and mournful places, but then being dramatically uplifted through the electronic beat of songs like ‘All Those friendly People’. The music they make is expansive without being overblown, heavy without being menacing, and spirited without being overtly positive. 2012 so far has seen them travel to Eurosonic, while also joining Franz Ferdinand on tour as special guests, and playing with bands such as The Maccabees, Passion Pit, Local Native and Breeders to name a few.
Their new album ‘Lily of the Valley’ saw them holed up in a disused office space in North County Dublin for some time, however the final result speaks volumes. From the haunting vocals and menacing guitars on opener ‘Mary’s Revenge’, right through to the dreamy hypnotism of closing track ‘I still Love the High’. Funeral Suits have managed to produce an album that is unique yet still realistic. Their music is thrilling yet refreshingly honest, and there is an urgency in their message, ‘They have arrived’ and they are here to stay!
Tickets for Funeral Suits are on sale now from Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.ie
