Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

free weed and some other drugs, bring back the headshops and have legalised hookers, that way, ireland could be the tourist hub of the world, cities abuzz with life until the early hours of the morning all the while collecting huge tax revenue..

with the money we would be in a strong position to pay off the debt and to hell with the lenders..

A devastating earth quake and about 200 Billion in international aid would do the trick.

Not for profit banking, If your bank is trying to make a profit, the only way they can, is to screw somebody over, and it will not be their shareholders.

Hang a few bankers and politicians, let capitalism take its course and let bad banks fail.

Socialising bank debt has to end.

Either enact a proper fiscal union or leave the euro.

Here's a mad one, let's start making useful things cheaply but well and start selling them competitivly to other countries. Who knows, it might be a runner..

    That's mad alright, Ted! ;)

Making stuff, rather than just buying and selling(imported) stuff means that more money stays in the country.

But most importantly, prune the parasitic banking & financial sector!

Believe it or not, we, the Irish, are actually good at making stuff and exporting it successfully. I know, I see enough of it loaded for the ferries. If we could just get our government to feck off to a locked, soundproof room for a few years and stop messing it up for those who want to get things done, we'd probably be just fine.

    Buy local!
Buy locally grown food in local shops, restart local manufacturing of low value goods, etc

The age of consumerism using borrowed money is coming to an end, the austerity is the hangover after the (debt) binge spending.

It's not austerity we're facing, it's a new normal where we'll (all of us) have to return to saving up before spending rather than buy now, pay later.

local means anywhere now though, packaging can be misleading,it could say packaged in howth co.dublin for example, but be flown in from germany or holland or the uk.

and the irish home grown fruit and veg is more expensive than the aldi lidl stuff thats on offer and usually cheaper than most of the other sourced items.

is their any new innovations you can think of,taxing something most of us havent thought of,apart from charging people for breathing air etc..

i think legalising and taxing cannabis, its the number one drug of choice for young and old alike, not to mention the medicinal benefits, bringing back headshops,(as they raked in money when they were around),and taxing and legalising hookers(having hookers in charge of their own destiny and not just merely being handed around like cattle and pimped)..

i think its a great idea of generating tax revenue very quickly it would rake in billions within the year, entreprenurial people would be keen to set up coffee shops, there would be people/customers/tourists spending money in hotels to stay here,b&b's and other accomodation such as hostels etc, they would be eating out in restaurants and cafes, renting cars, getting transport, generating business for other people too..
