Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was that the year of Katrina and the Waves?

No. That be 1997. Both Portugal and Norway got zero ......... Katrina And The Waves got 10 maximums and both England and Ireland exchanged 12 points.
Haven't a clue, because thankfully Eurovision memories are just a blur for me now.

Stay off the Pimms No. 1 'til at least the halfway stage
    Not a hope.

    Oh you of little faith

Just reading the wiki page on Azerbaijan there, first democratic and secular republic in the Muslim world. Interesting looking place in general.

No, because I think it's crap - that's just an opinion, not snobbery. I don't appreciate it on an ironic level either.
Loved it when I was a kid though, the voting especially.

Have to admit I'm with al quaideh in wanting to bomb the shìt out of this they echoed my sentiments about jedward completely because i'd suggest they are the one thing that instilled these urges. If Ireland ever gets bombed, blame a load of quasi-yanks indulging in a democracy gone mad

/was fine with jedward til they forgot to **** off the first time around. add "same entry twice in a row" to laughing stock cannon

Hell yes, I will watch the Eurovision. I love it, I've hardly missed a show in years.
It's cheesy nonsense and a lot of the songs are terrible. But it's lots of fun. I love seeing which countries have sent their own private jokes (like when we sent Dustin).
The whole thing is just great!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,459 ✭✭✭Chucken

Yes I will be watching :D

    I LOVE Eurovision...hubby not so much :(:(:(:(

About 5 years ago he said to me (after me moaning for years that I want to go to Eurovision) that we'd go the 1st time Azerbaijan won it.
Needless to say, last year I was THRILLED :D
Off I went on my interwebs, found flights for 450e each woohooooo......
ahhhhaaaa I didnt count on the aul Arzerbaijani government to block All hotel bookings til January of this year for the week of the contest. The prices in hostels had gone up about 6trillion* %
    Barstewards

*not quite but you get the jist
needless to say Im not in Baku typing.....

No I wont watch it, but I may as well considering that it'll be all I'll be seeing posts about in my Facebook news feed for the duration of the event. Breaking away from the online world wont help either as my family'll be watching it on the TV

We are ready, jewellery 24 carat, our beer has 12 degrees
Dialect, yeah, the two of us are stars, looting bars, we are ready
And all the people shout: “Heya heya hey”
We are party indians, wear feathers on the head

And now get your bosom out, the noodle soup gang arrives
Rednecks, yay, haven’t seen such exuberance for a long time
And they dance and they shake at the pole, at the ceiling
I am enchanted, rednecks, look how they sprawl, uh-huh…

Come on, shake your bum, shake your (ooh ooh)
Shake your bum, yeah, yeah, that’s the way I like it
Come on, shake your bum, shake your (ooh ooh)
Shake your bum, as you are what I want

And I enter the club, the ladies have fine jewellery
But it’s there, there, where you don’t expect it at first
I only look at her, she dances at the strip pole
I’m ready, chap, lots of women, I don’t miss out on anything

“Noodle soup gang, what’s up?” and everybody shouts: “Ho ho”
And women are dancing, they only go low, low
She twists me around her finger, she wants a winner, winner
And then she can jump, jump, booty shake, bad finger

Come on, shake your bum, shake your (ooh ooh)
Shake your bum, yeah, yeah, that’s the way I like it
Come on, shake your bum, shake your (ooh ooh)
Shake your bum, as you are what I want

Shake your bum, yeah, yeah, that’s the way I like it
Come on, shake your bum, shake your (ooh ooh)
Shake your bum, as you are what I want

Your bum has feelings, your bum is a part of you
Don’t put it on chairs, your bum has an opinion, yeah
Your bum wants movement, so shake, shake, shake
Your bum wants encounters, come on, give it what it needs

Your bum doesn’t get tired, your bum tells something about you
Come, shake it, it wants it, so that the house starts vibrating
Your bum has to be ready, so shake, shake, shake
Your bum has to be ready, come on, give it what it needs

Come on, shake your bum, shake your (ooh ooh)
Shake your bum, yeah, yeah, that’s the way I like it

Come on, shake your bum, shake your (ooh ooh)
Shake your bum, as you are what I want

makes me feel kinda fuzzy...kinda warm and sexy like

Not a chance I'll watch it.
It was funny with Terry Wogan but even then it was still **** and probably something better on.

After watching BBC Panorama last night, I'll be watching the Eurovision to see if there's a coup while it's on, and for no other reason.

There's a mutual hatred between Azerbaijan and the Armenian over a border dispute, and in the previous Eurovision the feed for the Armenian entry was cut so that it wasn't shown in Azerbaijan. Some people in Azerbaijan still voted for the Armenian entry, even though they didn't see it, because they used their vote as a protest against their own government. Needless to say, the secret police tracked these people down and rounded them up for questioning, asking them why they voted for Armenia.

The Armenians aren't showing up to appear in the contest because they're in fear of their lives.

    They're all nuts.

I will just to hear Marty Whelan's pathetic petty comments about other countries voting structures when its clear our joke entry isn't going to win.

No! graham Norton's commentary is so much better as he obviously thinks the whole thing is one massive joke.

According to the paper today Jedward are on last so I’ll tune in to see them and then the voting (I have no interest in seeing the full performance of all of the acts so the clip they will show before the voting deadline ends will be enough for me …

That being said I guess if it starts at 8 then would Jedward be on around 9 / 9.30 ?
