Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Eh if the recession hadn't hit here in 2007 I would imagine a semi-d in Tyrellstown would cost that much now!

Vulgar and ugly, not to mention completely inappropriate in a city with such horrendous levels of poverty.

Whatever about the look of it, it's probably quite a good design for the region. Google dubai and look at all the glass skyscrapers...in a desert?!...greenhouses in one of the hottest regions on earth, ridiculous. This house is ok for the environment imo

How much did you pay for the house?

I could have got you a much better one for half that.

27 floors, needs a staff of 600 and has an electricity bill of over a million euros a year in a city where millions live so far below what we would call poverty here.....what a fooking knob, obviously trying to compensate for the lack of one.

a 6 month old on lego could do a more aesthetically appealing design... and its useless anyway as the idiot developer did not abide to Muslim/Hindu/whatever rules and no one can actually live in it.

    nice.

One billion dollars doesn't get much in India these days. Apparently.

In fairness to the Ambani's their father rose from a life of extreme poverty, squalor and misery to wealth via his boot straps. They grew up in a two bedroom apartment with 4 siblings.

The Ambani's are also well known as philanthropist's to be fair to them, they just don't seek publicity for it.

    It looks awful from outside.

If it was built in North Korea, the architect would have been shot by now.

At least he is giving employment to 600 people, but the electricity bills arent't exactly cheap.

and to think that we Irish borrow to send 600 million of official Irish government aid every year to countries like that...I'm not sure if our government gives aid money to India but a year or 2 ago it gave aid to its neighbour ( and nuclear power ) Pakistan.

so because there's a rich guy from that country, nobody should give them aid?

Yep, I'm happy to go along with that.

Well, maybe not that nobody should give them aid.

But fecked if we should when there are people there spending $1 billion on houses while the banks are throwing people out of houses in Ireland because they can't afford the mortgages they were sold.

Every country needing aid has a few insanely wealthy people at the top..

I bet within a year or two he will turn it into a hotel to compare to the burj in Dubai or the Palace in Abu Dhabi.

A house like that in a city like that. It doesn't give the majority something to aspire to, it gives them something to tear down.

I'd like to think I'd do something more noble with that kind of money, but maybe I would be corrupted by it. I still don't think I'd be comfortable with owning slaves though.

Proof if ever proof were needed that money can't but you style.

Nothing even remotely 'homely' about it.

Cheaper on the long run to move into a hotel if you want to live in a house that resembles one.

    Indians be crazy.
