Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ry is short for Ryland, but yeah... Cooder.

I knew a Dermot McDermot once.

Not strictly speaking a weird name but there was an Irish blues musician called Dermot Byrne going on stage at the international blues challenge in Memphis TN, the announcer man assumed his name was "Byron Dermont".

Email I received years ago - somewhat related (tenuous I know) to the topic...
Many colleges and business's tend to strip the last name down to 6
characters and add the first and last initial to either the beginning
or end to make up an E-Mail address. For example, Mary L. Ferguson =
mlfergus or fergusml. They are just now beginning to realize the
problems that may happen when you have a large and diverse pool of
people to choose from. Add to that a large database of company/college
acronyms and you have some very funny addresses. Probably not funny to
    the individual involved, however:

    TOP TEN Actual E-mail Addresses

    9. Martha Elizibeth Cummins (Fresno University) - cumminme@fu.edu

I was at the post office last week and it was jammers. A few spots up from me was a Nigerian woman who had a little boy with her. Himself and a few other children were running amok around the place (kids being kids) and she finally snapped and shouted at the top of her voice in a heavy accent.

''Marvellous, come here at once you wicked, wicked child!!''

....wait that's not the worst name I've ever heard. It's hands down the best.

The Africans love adjectives for their kids- some of the ones I've come across in my old job have been amazing (Amazing being one of them).

There's been Godspower,Godswill,Wonderful,Precious and many others I can't think of now.

I remember a very young mother a couple of years ago screeching for "Si-ennnnaaaaaaa" to come back here.......

A mate of mine works in a children's hospital, she's heard some amazing ones.

Kinda off topic but I know a family with 2 boys in it ie. full brothers.

    The older one is Malcolm Floyd, he got to name his little brother and so the little brother was christened;

    Malcom Floyd.

    True.

Ah this has just reminded me of something.

Years ago I was visiting family in England and my cousin came home from school upset, he said he was being bullied by a lad in his class. He was telling me about it but all I could think of was the name of the boy in question, I couldn't believe it, thought it was the cousins accent or something. So I asked him to repeat it, to spell it and then promptly burst into laughter.

The young fellas name was Success, and upon being told this I imagined rolling up to mcdonalds in a few years time and seeing your man behind the counter with his name tag reading Success. Really brightend up the cousin too when I told him what I was laughing it.
