My mother has been unemployed for some time now (she is 59) and she currently gets €30 a week where she visits the post office, and has to sign every month. Both my parents are planning to go visit my brother in Australia for about 8 weeks.

What is the situation or what does she have to do?
How much notification does she need to give?
Will she still be eligible when she gets back?

Also I heard that from 58 on you no longer have to sign every month as they take it that employers would be more reluctant to hire you. Is this correct?
