Also fair play to Cech. 6 penos, guessed the right way 6 times, saved 3. Deserves it as much as anyone and was a huge reason why Chelsea were still in it, both the game and the tournament, he's some man!

It was meant to be for chelsea this year. Cant deny them that. All this talk about Terry getting togged out to celebrate.... seriously... how trivial can you get.

Bonsingwa trying to get his face in every picture and forcing his way to get beside the trophy for the picture was quite odd.

Would have much preferred to have seen Lampard, Drogba, Cech and Terry lift the cup for the first time, not Unibrow and sideshow bob but hey, I doubt the care.

Congrats Chelsea, Ashley Cole man of the match.

Although they employed anti-football in the semi, Chelsea were a bit more open last night.

Thing that really stood out for me was how clueless Bayern were. Totally ran of out ideas after maybe 15mins, and hadn't a clue how to break Chelsea down.

Their big names didn't show last night. Robben once again failed to deliver. His standard of set pieces/dead ball delivery was shocking. Ribery was poor and Gomez plain embarrassing.

Also sort of feel happy that once again negative tactics of the part of a manager backfired. Bayern went one up, were on top and their manager replaced Muller, who was probably their best player, with a defender. It changed the entire team set up just to try to hang on for 5mins, which they couldn't do. Then they needed Muller.

I am definitely no fan of Chelsea as a team, but I didn't shed any tears for Bayern last night.

How Barca and Madrid lost to these 2 teams I will never understand.

    .

There is nothing like "Anit Football" There is no rule in the game that Football is all about passing the ball within 5m radius and defending is anti football.

    Just watching it again now.

    I'm so happy!!!!!!

    And still a little drunk.

    I love Petr Cech.

From a Spurs supporter congrats to Chelsea, who'd have thought it? Drogba and Cech, deserving of it.

Worth pointing out that last night we had 3 more young English players on top of Cole Cahill Lampard - Sturridge and Bertrand, who can potentially be key in the next generation.

All of a sudden Chelsea have about 4-5 academy produced young players in the squad(Bertrand, Kane, Hutchinson, Nate, Jamal & Sammy).

Easily the worst approach to a final I've ever seen but the result is the only thing that matters so fair play chelsea!
Robben was so wasteful penelty aside. Havent seen much of gomez but any time I have I Wasent amazed by him.
Delighted for drogba even though I hate his antics on the ground, cech too.
I'll leave my comments about terry to myself though :D

Also was gutted for Lahm, what an amazing player but I'm sure hell have his day in this competution.

So last night Munich had red and White sheets to hold up as the team came on. Should they be criticised for trying to create a false atmosphere?? Shove your plastic flag comments up your arse.

I am a spurs fan, but still delighted for Chelsea, they were heroes last night and deserved it

Happy for chelsea, players like drogba, lamps and co deserve it. One thing though, shame about the trophy presentation last night, that the main players didnt get to lift it for the first time, players like Terry drog lamps cech etc.

Instead the fringe players did like Bosingwa and Kalou lifting it. Shame really. It was all a bit of a shovey pushy mess, the trophy presentation.

Nah, it's ok. Gavred is one of us. We've turned the plastic flag jabs into something to laugh at.

Highlights on Sky Sports 3 now. I'm terribly biased an though it was a fantastic game! but were there many highlights or for the neutrals was it pretty awful?

Delighted for a lot of their players especially Drogs. The man is a proper legend. Also delighted for Abramovich. He invested a lot of time and money on Chelsea and took a fair bit of stick on the way to glory. He deserved it as much as anyone up there. His contribution to Chelsea, the Premier League and the European cup has been fantastic for all involved.

Fvck the begrudgers it was our best and worst season in a few years.

    Champions!

Lads, Spurs fans, Pool Fans, if you feel like I was a dick last night I apologise. It was all banter and wasnt meant to wind up or antgonise any of ye.

Delighted we won and I celebrated long into tonigt around Cork. lots of well wishers and TBF, there was no bad words from any fans, except a few that said we were lucky and I can agree with that alright.

I missed some of the first half, so it was probably a little harder for me to get into the match, but I found it rather dull until late on in the 2nd half. Enjoyed it immensely from there on and as soon as Drogba got the equaliser, I knew ye'd win. I even thought Robben would miss that pen, he looked awful nervous!

    Utd fan.

Well done Chelsea, well deserved. Drogba, its starting to really annoy me that Ive grown to like and respect this guy, an absolute animal of a player and was hoping he would put it away last night.

If RDM doesnt get the job the football world has gone mad.

Is it true that Terry only put his kit on because he was keeping his suit clean for court?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,727 ✭✭✭Nozebleed

have to say it's sad to see a team like chelsea winning the cup...they're a poor side. should've been knocked out long ago.

happy for one or 2 players such as lampard,cech..they deserve to lift the cup..but chelsea as a club have no soul..they've no team spirit whatsoever..that was clear when the winning peno went in..everyone of the chelsea players ran in a different direction..there was no group celebration, drogba didn't even run to his team mates when the ball went in. and when they were lifting the cup..they all wanted to be front centre for the big photo..they wouldn't move aside to let the captain lift the cup.

You said ''this is all true''.

The trophy presentation was fine. Terry probably didn't want to be in full view lifting the trophy after what happened in the Semi. Some of the players would have obviously sensed that and tried to make it look like it was more the team lifting it. There's no way Bosingwa would have been standing in front of Terry like that if Terry had played in the final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,248 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Yes, yes. Lets all be organised and civil while lifting the European Cup. Single file and polite applause, chaps.

They were like a bunch of giddy kids, who cares?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭smallerthanyou

So now didn't lift the trophy right? I dunno how ye write some of this stuff with a straight face. And I don't even know why I'm rising to the bait. Maybe it the celebratory hangover.

No it's not. If he wanted to be in full view he would've gave Bosingwa a gentle push in way of telling him to get out of the way. He didn't.

I don't know why we are discussing this anyway, it really is small time.

Do you even know who John Terry is?!!?!? The only time he doesn't want to be in full view is when he's in court watching one of his parents being prosecuted for shop lifting or selling coke.....

Was happy for Drogba, Lampard, Cech and dare I say it Ashley Cole, he was brilliant. He well deserved being named as the best left full since the PL started.

Yup have to agree, Ashley played the game of his life last night. He was class.

I found the trophy presentation a bit minimistic. No fireworks, no ticker tape or streamers, Platini looking depressed dishing out the medals. Not the result he or UEFA wanted I think

Are you kidding? He nearly pushed three players off the stand in an attempt to clear the way for himself and lampard to lift the cup. The players were just too excited and thankfully overwhelmed him and prevented him being the centre of attention, which is clearly what he wanted.

The fact he had the audacity to lift the cup and celebrate the way he did after leaving his team in the sh*t, is in tune with the character of the man. Total contrast to Roy Keane in 1999, who didn't feel like he deserved it even though his suspension was a self sacrifice for the team.

I was very happy for Drogba last night. A true legend and hero. Terry is a disgusting human being who, considering his performances and behaviour in the cl this year, doesn't deserve a champions league medal. He's got the thickest skin of any man on the planet.

It does make me laugh that Liverpool fans make jibes about Chelsea being the plastic club with no history who have to wave free flags to create an identity or whatever.

Have they not seen the likes of Barca and Real Madrid fans waving flags given to them by their club to enhance the atmosphere on special occasions? I suppose they are plastic clubs too?

Its not even as if Liverpool can take some sort of moral highground when it comes to flags or the atmosphere created in general. Most of the time Anfield is as quiet as Craven Cottage, and Liverpool fans have the habit of bringing along badly made bedsheet style banners with slogans lacking any sort of wit.

The obsession with Chelsea is fun to watch from the perspective of someone with no love for Chelsea but a real dislike for pool.

Still? Its the first comment I made in the forum and it was in response to someone else making a comment that was clearly a contradiction to the scene that I saw last night during the lifting of the trophy.

What has Saipan got to do with 1999? Oh I see the old " I can't make a good point against this argument so I'll just muddy the issue by throwing in unrelated events" trick. Nice work.

It natural that people will compare the behaviour of two suspended captains who's teams went on to beat Munich in the CL final.

Some quotes on Terry's performance last night!!

"It was like something from the Make A Wish Foundation".

"JFK Assasination,Diana Funeral,The Birth Of Christ..John Terry was there"

"That was the quickest John Terry got his kit on since Wayne Bridge came home early"

"John Terry is like a bridesmaid who turns up at a wedding wearing a wedding dress"

"Bet John Terry was one of those kids who insisted on blowing out the candles on someone elses cake"

"John Terry will be at his daughter's sports day his week in full PE kit just in case she wins, he can pretend he was integral at prizegiving".

"Doing a John Terry today. Wife is due to give birth. Planning to take baby off her as it pops out and tell everyone it's not so bad 3rd time"

"Contemplating doing a John Terry by wearing my running gear and waiting near the Great Manchester Run finish line to pretend I won."

"Going to park my car on the Monaco finish line and pretend I've won next weekend, John Terry esque."

"John Terry says he is looking forward to lifting the European Championship trophy this summer, regardless of who wins it. "

He puts Chelsea into the CL final, granted he'll prob never be the same player he was, his game has changed too, I wouldn't say he had a muck season, didn't score enough but didn't play badly.

Definitely. I forgot til someone mentioned last night that this was his third final. It would be harsh on a player as brilliant as him not to win one of three.
