An Taoiseach Enda Kenny is due in Donegal this morning for a number of engagements – but is likely to face some protests.
His quick tour of the county will include visits to Letterkenny, Milford, Ballybofey and Ballyshannon.
Representatives from Donegal Action Against Austerity are expected to highlight their grievances during his visit. The group had made a submission last week to meet Mr. Kenny but it is understood that this was rejected.

One of his main functions will be to visit Loreto Community School in Milford to present a major prize. It scooped top prize in a national technology competition – and is set to receive €125,000 in technology equipment. The school has won a complete technology package for incoming first year students, each of whom will get a laptop.

The school will also get specialist hi-tech equipment.

Anyone know where and when he'd be about Letterkenny?

I'm saying ye never treated the likes of Charlie, Bertie or Cowen like this.

    Ye lapped it up.

Pathetic behavior and doesn't say much about Donegal people.

LOL yeah because he gets a warm loving welcome everywhere else he goes. Oh and in case you hadn't noticed this is still a "free" country people have a right to protest if they so wish

As a Donegal woman, I never bothered to go and see Charlie, Bertie, Cowen - or Enda.

I did, however, criticise them, and Enda online.

It's interesting, however, that you base your opinion of Donegal people on either the protests of those who were in Milford today, or the posts in the Donegal forum, whichever you find objectionable.

Is your reaction balanced, do you think?
You know, the whole "Donegal people" attitude, as if we are part of a herd who all think/act alike?
Maybe think about what you post before jumping to Endas defence, next time?

I think any 'protest group' that hijacks a school celebration should take a long hard look at themselves.

Today shows a lot about their mentality tbh.

If we're that bad then why are you even posting in our forum?

If I didn't know better I'd say you were trolling.

Whatever about protests, I think throwing eggs at him is wrong and reflects very badly on those involved.

If you don't like the government you'll have the chance to vote them out when the time comes.

It's obviously not a fair reflection on Donegal people as a whole. There are obviously only a few juvenile idiots up there who find it advantageous to throw eggs at a politician at an event kids were at.

Lots of people talking about how nasty it was to throw eggs at him, not knowing that it was his car the eggs were throw at, not directly at him. Don't get me wrong i'm not condoning it but there is a hell of a difference of throwing an egg at a car windscreen and throwing them at someone.

    Yeah, massive difference..........
It's about the hijacking of the event by a minority to make a very juvenile point.

Was the car moving at speed by the way? (an egg obscuring the view is a danger to all those in the car and indeed outside it)

That it's okay to throw eggs at cars once there is a politician inside.
I have no idea what other point they were trying to make outside of that.

While agreeing throwing eggs was wrong I think it depends what the protest was about regarding high jacking a school celebration. I bet the school isn't one that's losing any teachers and Ida civilised protest is highlighting the fact that schools in Donegal are losing them then I for one would support it

I would have no problem with people exercising their democratic right to protest, though I would draw the line at egg-throwing.

However, the reference to "Donegal people" was both offensive, and unjustified - or perhaps we're not sufficiently important/worthy to deserve the respect that Enda apparently is due?

Seems the eggs weren't the only thing that cracked and split:

    http://www.highlandradio.com/2012/05/25/murphy-regrets-milford-protest-following-daaa-split/

Ryan Stewart, John McLaughlin and the Donegal Action for Cancer Care group have left the main group.

I think they missed their target and have egg on their own faces!
