Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Having just read the thread on communions and conformation's being scrapped, seeing a kid make a grand for it is unreal. I know on my communion I got £200,which was a tidy sum back then. But how much did ant other posters recieve? Any ridicolous amounts out there?

    No idea.
A hundred or two I guess.
It was almost 20 years ago, and my memory isn't great at the best of times.

£80 for my communion if I recall. Bit more for confirmation but can't remember exact amount.

just over 100 pounds iirc, thought it was the most money ever back then. I spent it on Star Wars toys and video games, which is exactly what I'd spend it on today :pac:

300 quid for my communion in 1971. I hit the jackpot big time as my Dad was away working in the U.S, I had no front teeth and a plaster on my knee and millions of relatives. :D My Mam is still minding most of it for me....:(

No idea about the confir as I'd stopped paying attention by then.

I don't remember how much I made for my communion, probably £2. It was 1966.

    I never conformed, though.

You could buy a farm with that type of money back then.

Can't remember and my Ma took it 'to mind it' for me - never saw that cash again. I'd be surprised if it was more than a tenner.

    Feck all.

I didn't go round begging off my relatives like some sort of degenerate. I had class when I was a child.

It's kind of ironic that you spelled it 'conformation'.
