I wanted to use seaweed in my baking and was hoping to go to the beach and get my own. Im just wondering if can i use the seaweed straight away or is there anything i should do to it before i use it? Any advice would be very appreciated. :)

Depends on the type of seaweed and what you want to do with it exactly. I think it's probably best to at least wash it before use - make sure there is no sand or little guests in the seaweed.

You might also want to either dry it or blanch it before use too.

A great book dealing with seaweed is Irish Seaweed Kitchen by Prannie Rhatigan - http://www.prannie.com/

Im actually going to bake a seed and kelp cake later today!
