    Hi Guys,

Has anyone coma across the S.M.A.R.T check virus before? I think it is spyware but have not had any luck geting rid of it. I tried a few probgams including malwarebytes and super anti spyware. Says also theres a hard disk error but its one of those rogue mails there id say.

    Cheers

Hello all, this is my first post.
Have S.M.A.R.T check ransomware on my HP dv2500 laptop. Can't load any programs. Only have Hard Disk as only boot option; therefore cannot reload OS from DVD or USB. Has proprietary HP disk which I cannot put into an external case. How do I flash bios to get rid of this Hard drive restriction. No important stuff on this laptop. Trend Micro Internet Security did not pick up this malware.

    Thanks

If the optical drive is damaged I'd get a new one somewhere like ebay to replace it. I've never heard of a proprietry hard disk (if theres any bios related hard disk security just disable it in the bios), in fact i'm 99% sure its just an ordinary SATA disk. You could put the drive in an enclosure and run a virus scan on it

    Nick
