Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's the UK, not England. (Englebert is actually half Indian.) But I do wonder whether the UK might get better results if they could field four groups instead of one (England, Scotland, Wales, NI).

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

This Swedish song reminds me of when Celine Dion went all dancey and hip on us - a great time for all who were there

Jeward got more than they deserved. They were awful. But then again, so were most songs.

Well done Sweden, it's likely I'll have forgotten your song by tomorrow.

    She looked a state
    Sure she did.

Gas the way Marty was in a huff over Jedward getting so few votes - as if it was a deliberate strategy rather than them simply being sh1t. Amazing the blindness the fact they're Irish causes. Any other country he'd have thought they were dreadful!

Ah well won 12 euro on Serbia :) even though i spent 20 overall. :pac:

What ever happened this about being a SONG contest - which meant the songwriter won. We still count Johnny Logan (God help us) as a three-time winner, one of which was as songwriter?

To be honest its not so much about the lyrics but it is, if its a good song and good tune to go with it. If its sang well and stands out some bit it do well. Then again politics can home into voting aspect of it but what makes a good eurovisiony song will win though unique songs and positive ones with a nice beat and act then will likely win.

Go Sweden! Delighted they won though better than some other acts!

Yeah its a European wide conspiracy that nobody votes for Ireland when probably more than half the people in their own country hates em with a passion.

19th isn't too bad considering what we sent, knowing this country and the way we celebrate failure theres probably an open top bus parade for the fcukers being organised.

There will be some crowd of ejits at Dublin airport to "greet" them on their "homecoming" no doubt.

Croatia gave us 4 points I am thinking they are Irishifying themselves over their preparing for to kick our asses in a few weeks at the Euros.

Not saying he should have given out about them but pretending they were good was just silly.
First time watching it in years - Sweden, Albania and Ukraine were good IMO! Lol at Jedward having a chance! Surprised Ukraine did so badly...

I wouldn't be getting upset about Ireland doing badly, it's only a bit of fun! :D

Turkey were rubbish with their sailor/bat act!

There were better acts than them! Spain, Romania, Sweden, Germany, Greece and Cyprus were good. Moldova, Estonia weren't too bad but Macedonia and Albania weren't great though. Malta were alright. A few flops for some countries though, Norway wasn't that good though, iceland ok. Denmark did better than them but song was ok. Ukraine was ok. Azerb. were better than a lot of the songs there glad it got within the top 10 at least.

I was just thinking there's so many countries in this now, we have enough for two Eurovision song contests. Let's split East and West again...worked for Germany for a while. Mind you, the Germans might have to head over to the East for a decade or so till this recession is over or hell freezes over. Whichever comes first. :)

What else could he say really. I don't think they were great either but I did think they would do better.
Sweden was good and deserved the win.

Ya they did was 10 points I think.

UK was a bit of a flop to be honest, song old school. Better singers and songs in the Eurovision than that song/singer. All the young wans be voting like!

I think Ireland and the UK probably know they won't win it again any time soon but sure they have a great time over there so there is no loss on them.

Haha Jedward you pair of retards!

Can we actually send someone decent next time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

I think what ever country was going to win was likely to afford to stage it next year so could have been down to that too! I know with Spain they said not to be voted so that wouldn't have to stage it next year as they wouldn't be able to afford it due to the economic crisis at the moment. Well at least it wasn't Ireland or Greece that won, been bad news economically! Though Russia been able to afford it no problem though!

Though voting was generally down to voting for their neighbouring country as usual.
