Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Be interesting to see if it did.

Ah, seems it's about $160 for a cart only. Similar figures with the ended auctions.

It's strange, some games drop in price while other retain there's. Subsistence really isn't as rare as some people make out which is probably why it dropped so much. Also it could be that the MGS rereleases are physical whereas a collector would be less interested in a digital release.

Has Earthbound dropped down at all since it got released on virtual console?

It better not drop. I don't want just any auld plebs in this club!

I haven't looked at this thread in a while and there are some lovely gets lately and it makes me sad.
Also was I the only one paying over the odds on Euro Pal snes stuff?

I'm debating about my next purchase, down to one a month now.
Bravely Default or Senran Kagura Burst?

Buy the latter and it'll be a different kind of 'bating you'll be doing ;)

I play Senran Kagura Burst for the characterisation of the girls and the excellent story. I'm not sure what you are insinuating.

I've never seen a price drop quite like this. The last time I was looking that game up (was probably about a year ago) it was in the region of €70 BIN. There's now one for £12.99

I'm sure there is no single handed 3DS play going on, and it's the need that both hands be engaged in gameplay that is going to really hit the perve market share for Bayonetta 2!

    I'd go for Senran.

    Tales of Vesperia?

Tales of Vesperia got a reprint which is why the price tanked.

Pink Sweets and Muchi Muchi Pork dropped some when the region free version became readily available for the 360.

And,most notorious of all, Under Defeat HD.
Spare a thought for all those poor sad losers who imported it at great expense only to see their more canny peers buy it for a pittance when Rising Sun games published it in Europe.

Some of the 360 limited edition jap releases are stupidly overpriced for what you get.

That said the region locked version has extra features that make it worth it, to the shmup faithful at least.

This arrived at my desk in work yesterday. People are now making GBA backlights based on the ags-101 backlight, which means all the high-quality goodness without the guilt of gutting a relatively scarce handheld

I'd much prefer that model over an SP 101, way more comfy to use.

Worth every penny they are. The only bad point about them is they make your stock GBA's redundant. :)

Same as with the GB Micro I find it hard to mind the screen from scratches.
But it is a lovely thing.
Are there kits out there to do the conversion to an existing GBA?

Yep there's a couple of places selling kits, I got a guy I know in England to sort it, he sourced the GBA and installed the kit for me.

You can also buy replacement screen lenses, so not a disaster if it gets scratched.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

You can buy you're own backlight kit aswell, over on GBA Temp theres a thread about it. Guy makes them by hand and I've seen nothing but praise for them

Absolutely gorgeous. I meant to buy one of them a while ago when I first saw the mod. What stopped me was trying to figure out which ones were real modded GBAs and which ones were Chinese clones. There seems to be a few clone versions floating around with a backlit screen, worth being wary of.

But yeah, it's how the GBA should have been from the beginning. Makes you wonder if they'd gone with that design, would the clamshell SP and future clamshell Nintendo designs have been developed?

Or would we be on the GBA 3D or something now?

When Nintendo discussed the development of 3d systems at the launch of the 3DS the Virtual Boy, naturally, was spoken of, as was the 3d variant of the Gamecube. But they also discussed the screen tech of the 3DS being used with the GBA but the results were "unsatisfactory", possibly due to the low resolution, I don't know.
I'm still waiting for a VC release of the Virtual Boy back catalogue on the 3DS, I would have thought it was a sure thing tbh, but then the penetration into the market psyche was so low, as a result of the devices unpopularity, it'll probably never happen :(

Nintendo like to pretend the Virtual Boy never happened.

Sure I have the US version. I just want the box with the bewbs on it :P I'm sure there'll be other EU exclusives. I might just buy the games and then wait for a bigger price drop in a few years to get the console.

So which region so far is looking to have the best physical release exclusives as a matter of interest?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,962 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

The US has the excellent Rune Factory 4 which was cancelled in Europe and the utterly superb Shin Megami Tensei IV which hasn't been mentioned for nearly a year in Europe. Europe though has more stranger games thanks to rising star.

Lads, maybe you guys could point me in the right direction. Since I got my new flat screen all my GameCube and ps2 games look absolutely HIDEOUS on the screen, colour is just way to bright no mater what way I change the settings on the tv. Is there any kind of connection I could get that would make the games look like they are being played on an old tv? Kinda dont have space for a fat television in my room.

What would you recommend I do?
