Nope, not this soldier, if it doesn't shift on Ebay, and it seems unlikely given that Argos stores across the UK have also discovered stocks of the game, I'll just keep it for myself.
    Sealed or unsealed though.
I have a standard copy as well, keep it or sell it?
    Decisions decisions!

Couldn't make it up to Drogheda so no copy for me :( Really disappointed I missed out on that one, but you've got to take the missed deals with the successful ones alas! Although 18.99 Xenoblade is about 100 times preferable to 1 euro Killzone :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,276 ✭✭✭readyletsgo

Yay!!!! I went to Argos and I got my copy of Kirby Epic Yarn today :pac:
Have a few pick ups from the past 3 or so weeks to show you guys, so will do a few pics over the weekend.

So how many of you guys got your copy of Xenoblade in Argos?

Mine sold to an Italian buyer. No payment yet, karma maybe?

After a round trip to Cavan (which had a constant lingering smell of manure around the place and the most confusing car park ever, no offence) I have returned triumphant.

Mine has a slightly squished appearance, as if it was stored on its side for some time, with a weight above it.
    And so does Xenoblade Chronicles...
    Ba dum tish....

I got one query from a guy in Greece and that's it.
    We shall see.

I'd say a large proportion of the box set for the UK and Ireland must have disappeared into some dimensional rift in the back of Argos' storeroom, then popped back out.
I wonder how many have sold over the past 2 days, probably more than on release!

The one I was trying to sell is mushed like yours all right. The spare one is mint though.

I've 3 reservation codes. One in Dundalk, one in Drogheda and one in Clonmel. Does anybody have any that they'd like to swap? I need reservation codes for Dublin preferably around the city centre. I can send you the e-mail with the code if you like for added security and vice versa. I need to know by the morning.

Finally got my Dark Souls 2 via Parcel Motel.

The collectors edition is fecking huge!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,565 ✭✭✭✭OwaynOTT

And the Italian has asked to cancel, I may do it before I get sent pubes in the post.

Kinda good news as I had change of heart, going to use the fudged Xenoblade and preserve the other.

Has anyone seen the Grand Budapest Hotel yet? It's a jolly good watch and highly enjoyable. Pure fun.

Got my DS2 as well, plus poster number 326/2000

Sure to be a future collectors item!

Girl in the shop started a big conversation with me when she asked me if I had played the first one. So I left the shop with the game, poster and a number haha. But this is no time for love, its time to die again and again!

Yeah, I'm sorry I have the standard edition, I have the collectors editions of
Demon's Souls and Dark Souls and would have liked to match them with Dark Souls 2.

So anyway I picked up a new case for my Nexus 5 to replace the cheap chinese crap that's been falling apart for a month or so.

It's the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case, very sturdy with a transparent back. It has a few inserts that you can use to customise the back of the phone.

I scanned these in and created a template in photoshop and created my own insert:

    1912137_10203639422328905_472490233_n.jpg

I messed up the printing dimensions of this one a little bit but it was only a tester really. When I get the dimensions right I'll print it out on proper photo paper which should be a bit more sturdy.

I was going to do the NES controller but there are tones of cases like that for iPhones and the like... that and I wanted to be unique.

I think there's a Spigen Ultra Hybrid case for the Samsung Galaxy S4 too Ciderman, you should look into it anyway! They usually retail for €25 but you can find them on Ebay from some stores for as little as £7, using Parcel Motel for shipping.

I don't like cases as a rule, they ruin the lines of a phone and I always wind up binning them.
That said, my S4 is having the persistent problem of the proximity sensor turning on and never going off thanks to a design flaw whereby dust gets into the device via the ear piece and the only ways to clean it are with a can of air or, in my case, take the blasted phone apart and clean the filth away with a q-tip.

I wouldn't say I'm underwhelmed. Well jumping from the damp and dark of DK into the sunny beaches of DK 2 is a big change. It's feel is totally different to me I think it feels like an elder scrolls game. Feels more floaty. Ive gotten caught taking damage while in backstab animations which annoys me and that half health bar is seriously restricting. You're really encouraged to stay 'alive'

I'm only 2 hours, and 12 deaths, in so I'll wait a while before I make up my mind completely. So far its 7 thumbs up :)

I was never one for phone cases much until quite recently. I like being able to sell on phones if I want to after a year or so when newer stuff is being released so it's handy to keep it in a case with screen protector so that it doesn't end up full of scratches etc.

Even if I don't sell it on I like keeping them in good condition. My current S4 (not the one that was stolen) was owned by somebody else for a time before me and the silver trim and back case are all scratched to bits. I hate that.

    *edit*

This S4 has a consistent problem where it keeps dropping the mobile phone network if it's connected to 3G. Seems to be a design flaw on the motherboard with some earlier models. Unfortunately as it's a work phone and I've already gone ahead and soft modded it it's out of warranty. Ohh well. Wanna swap? I'd gladly put up with proximity sensor issues. :P

You know, sometimes I miss the old Atavan, before he got infracted :(

I don't mind cases, as I'd wreck a phone from dropping it. must have a matte screen protector on it though, can't do without my matte.
I've never paid for a case for any of my phones or for any of my phones in the last few years. The benefit of working in the industry. Pity that the negatives far outweigh that benefit though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

Yeah I always use a case as my phone would have been long smashed without it. Kinda essential really on an iphone really due it being all glass. Don't use a screen protector though as they annoy me.

Almost forgot I picked this up recently.

Would a back case cover protect a screen from smashing? You know the ones that come a few mm above the screen but don't actually cover the screen?

I hate cases too but if it stopped the screen from smashing it would be worth it.

There's no way I'd use a flipcase though!

I tried the smart flip case for the S4 but it just got grubby thanks to its fabric finish.
Since I switched the phone to a Cyanogenmod rom I don't get benefits from the covers so I haven't reinvested.
I don't like cases in general but have yet to smash a screen so I must be doing something right!
A friend just spent 160 replacing a screen so maybe it's worth it!

Kirby Canvas Curse/Power Paintbrush for the DS incoming, it's a nice little game and part of my plan to have the Kirby series collected.
Some of the games are expensive however, particularly the GBA titles.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,641 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

Just picked up Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland for the GBA, only $10 from Japan, which is pretty good.
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror seems a little more pricey but I'll get it in time.
Then it's really just Dreamland 2 on the GB and then Squeak Squad and Mass Attack for the DS and that's that. I've no interest in the pinball/puzzle titles they released.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,962 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

You should be interested in the pinball titles, they are superb stuff altogether. Made by the Revenge of the Gator team.

The great thing about the series is tar they are ripe for importing, and then they're a lot cheaper.
Pity the 3ds is region locked then or I'd already have the new Kirby title bought.

Yes it should help massively. Unless it gets dropped on a spike or some such. But then having a matte screen protector should add a second line of defence. The two in tandem should offer the protector akin to the skin of xenomorph

I think it was Ciderman who recommended Beat the Beat in Argos.
thank you :D Best €7 I've spent in ages. Not retro but it got a good 4+ hours of laughs with friends earlier. Very WarioWare and crazy as a box of badgers.

Thank Atavan, it was his copy of the game I played many moons ago, it is brilliant and was still priced at around €40 before Christmas.
It's the sequel to the Rhythm Paradise game on the DS, also available for peanuts and a Japan only GBA game, which can be quite expensive, but I will pick it up at some point.

Every action has an equal but opposite reaction. A black hole sucks time and matter out of the Universe; a white hole returns it.

Reminds me of the unwelcome visit up the jacksy I got from the customsman when my Namco Museum Boxset arrived, over a week sitting in their offices while they tried to figure out what it was and how much to charge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,920 ✭✭✭TechnoFreek

The most sickening bit about the customs charge is that it is calculated on the total price of goods and shipping. Cheeky that money is made on the shipping.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,726 ✭✭✭The Last Bandit

Cheeky that money is made on the shipping.

    That's to cover the item = $1, shipping = $999 scenarios.

I guess shipping is a service so applicable to VAT as well.. Sucks though..

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,962 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

I've only ever been stung by customs once and it was on games I ordered from playasia. I didn't get the games for 2 months whatever the **** customs were doing with them.
