Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's not made by Sega by any chance is it?

Oh man I hope it's what I think it might be.

As someone who could never really get into Kirby, is this new one worth a pick up? Hows the 3D on it? Is it easy or hard?

You should try Kirbys weirder games. There's two types of kirby games, the traditional platformers like Dreamland which are fun easy games but nothing special. Then there's stuff like Canvas Curse, Tilt n'Tumble and that weird excellent golf hybrid on the SNES. Kirby's best stuff is in those games.

It's definitely not what you think it is.

    Not sure Retr0,
once you get over the fact that the platformers are never going to challenge you like Mario does you've got some of the prettiest platforming on whatever console hosts it, Dreamland 3 on the Snes is amazing, with a unique look not seen in the rest of the franchise.
The 3DS game is easy as well but the 3D visuals are very very impressive.

But, in another way, I agree.
Nintendo/HAL took chances with Kirby in ways that Nintendo never did with Mario, with the games you mention being examples.
I have Canvas Curse, Tilt'n Tumble, Mass Attack and others that are very clever indeed, though the Mario Vs DK games, begun in the GB version of Donkey Kong, showed a similar sort of invention.

As I said, I'd love to see the development of something interesting on the WiiU featuring Kirby, otherwise it'll be only Super Smash Bros before we see the pink freak on the console.

Sat in Starbucks, drinking a venti skinny latte and playing it on the 3DS:XL, lovely stuff.

Was this in between tipping your fedora to random m'ladies and writing your novel on your Macbook?

Come on, if you're going to use sweeping generalisations at least do so accurately: What kind of self-respectin', hat wearin', novel writin', post-ironic hipster would be caught dead in a frickin' Starbucks?

Nope, it was while people with neck beards scowled at me while I drank from a coffee cup the size of a cereal bowl, and with Kirby plinking away.
Actually, I was also reading the latest Edge, and I think Retr0 was shouting "Gunstar Heroes, We Never Forget Nor Forgive!" in the back of my mind.

The kind that I see plenty of in the new Starbucks in Dun Laoghaire.

Well not saying they are bad, they are great platformers but I don't think they do a lot to stand out. I much prefer the weirder kirby games.

Hasn't it become deriguer to dismiss GH as mediocre cos the powerups aren't well balanced? GSH fixes that but I find the presentation a bit dull by comparison.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,965 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

The unbalanced weapons make gunstar heroes fun. You can play the game with any of the weapons and the game will play different each time. It also has the best light sabre in any game.

Gun star super heroes might be more balanced but its less fun. The game is just weak with bosses that go down in about 20 seconds and some awful levels like the super thunderblade homage. Unbalanced games doesn't mean not good. Sure stuff like ff8 and ff5 are so unbalanced they are downright broken but that's the best part about it.

Well done Retr0, there was a time when criticism of Gunstar Heroes would seems you into some sort of fugue, glad to see the tablets are working.

So, Legend of Dragoon, best RPG of the 20th century or best RPG ever?

oh sweet jebus, please resize the pics :eek:

Forums you generally want a max size of about 640x480 and then link that to the larger images.

It all depends on the theme you are using on boards I think. You probably have the new theme whereas I use the old classic look.

Maybe I'll bite the bullet and switch over to the new theme for a while :)

Got it from a private sale in the UK. Pretty much mint and with unused points cards too! :)

Very excited to try it out now. Though somewhat greedily I have my eye on Project X and 'that game with yer wan wit d jabs' now too. :o

Much preferred Fire Emblem and to a lesser extent Devil Survivor Overclocked. Anyone that's own a 3DS and hasn't also acquired FE Awakening at this stage should be ashamed.
Some slack shall be cut for those who have recently purchased a 3DS but they must source a FE within 7 days of purchasing their 3DS.

Was in Tesco Stillorgan today, picked up GTA Liberty City Stories (PS2) for €3.
I hid two copies on the bottom shelf of the stand, behind copies of NFS Pro Street, just in case anyone here wanted it.

Haha, that's quite funny. We should get a group together to go around during these sales and hide the good stuff behind random ****e...

(Psst, I hid a copy of Xenoblade behind the Dolmio Lasagna Kits...)

If I wanted to hide it really well, I should have filled the shelf in front of it with all their copies of Gaelic Games Football 2 (yes they made a sequel).

I bought and promptly traded another copy of cooking Mama 4, turning 3 euro into 6.30.
Tried to buy another 1c copy of New Art for the 3ds but the cashier refused as they are now not allowed sell things even if the ring up at 1c.
I wonder what the rules are around this matter.
The games have been at this price point for some weeks now.

You can have a hobby without being a total anti social, socially inept nerd. If you find the right woman she then won't freak out when she sees all your bits and bobs.

Although, whether that kind of woman exists in Cork is another thing :pac:

Edit, by the way 'you' was 'you plural' there, I didn't mean you specifically :D

The Retro Gamer Collection was a present from a friend when I couldn't decide on weather to get the Mario one or the RGC book, lol.

Mass Effect 3 for €10, just to see what all the fuss is about
3D Glasses to see Godzilla, (Spoiler Alert! its ****e!)
Kirby from Smyths, my first Kirby game!

Well this took a disgraceful 10 days to come from Japan. The entire japanese postal service should commit seppuku for dishonouring themselves.

What is it you may ask. Well it's not a white hole. In fact I've not got a clue myself. It came up on hg101's forums. It's meant to be a totally crazy platformer with a very strange sense of humour. It's also entirely in English as well:
