Gave him a partial refund of a €12, so it wasn't too bad. Turned me off eBay though.

Sounds like a dodgy bastard! Is there any way of completely refusing to refund money in that scenario?

Well that's going in a frame once I get the crease out!

Are you gonna warm dampen it and dry it flat to de-crease?

Don't think so, with eBay's "100% Buyer Protection".

I was listening to a recent All Gen Gamers podcast, and Jason was telling a story how he sold a camera, completely working, even had a picture of the camera working in the listing. The guy who bought it, said it wasn't working, filed a claim, and got a refund. He returned the camera to Jason smashed into pieces.

I don't think I'll ever be selling anything on eBay again, at least nothing of value.

The whole system is whack, I just refunded him the small amount instead of running the risk of getting back Shaq Fu.
And I', sure you could contest the claim but in the end the buyer will get their way.

Yeah, they usually always side with the buyer, unless they have a history of frequent claims.

At the moment I'm going to try hanging within a frame. There are some very soft creases which gravity should remove over time. (you can see them a lot better in the photo of it on the table, they're already falling out now in the frame)

If not then I'll get a bit more hands on and dampen it alright. Sure I'll see how it goes.

Found a nice big frame which needs some work. Some mounting paper (to hide the brown backing board) and some black paint for the frame and this should look good. Also need to cut down the white mounting, the Konami logo is hiding underneath (can't have that!!!)

What a horrible thing to do!

He probably had a camera, accidentally broke it and thought he'd scam an ebay seller out of a new one.

Precisely, makes me worry about selling anything on there, combine that risk, with both eBay and Paypal fees (which is crazy, considering they're the same company now, and you're getting charged twice for the same sale), it's really not worth it anymore.

I'd rather let things go here and at least know they're going to a good home.

Also, great looking poster. I need to track down a copy of that game, been hearing nothing but good things. It's funny how it's actually hard to find cart-only versions of the rarer games.

Arrived in the post this morning. This was the same price as the vanilla download edition on the Irish PSN  Can take or leave the map (which is actually quite good quality) and compass, but a three CD Ys series musical retrospective made this an absolute must buy.

    Here's a 22 year wait finally made a reality :D

I actually asked for this back for my 8th Birthday but got 'The Revenge of' instead. Which turned out to be for the best as it's a better game.

The reason I've held off so long is price, It's taken me ages to get it for a reasonable one. People are always looking for stupid money for it. Which is odd, as it's not that uncommon.

Crappy auction photo, but you get the idea :) 19gbp which I'm pretty happy with.

    Are the soundtracks orchestral?

It's a mix! Yes for the most recent games. But it seems to cover the whole spectrum. The Ys 3 section, for example, has cuts from the original game, the 2005 PC version and arrangements from the more recent PSP remake.

The Revenge of Shinobi has killer nuns, The Termintor, Rambo, The Hulk, Spiderman, Batman, Godzilla and a jazzy soundtrack ... there is no contest :pac:

Nah, Shinobi III is also brilliant, it comes down to personal preference really. Nostalgia plays a huge part in my choice I guess :)

I much prefer the PC-88 versions. Yuzo Koshiro and the other composers on the series were gods of FM synthesis and find their music doesn't translate as well to orchestral. I always play the remakes with the PC-88 audio.

Shinobi 3 is great and all but Revenge really is in a class of its own.

Those games were always a bit weird to me, they always teetered between an adventure game and a visual novel, but not enough in either direction to keep my attention.

I may need to give them another try.

Well it was the only one I could find on ebay and it was 40 euro. I snapped it up because I was looking for a copy of Trip world for the last year and that shot up in price to stupid levels since it was mentioned on retronauts and by mr Parish on usgamer, I was afraid it wold happen to chalvo55 as well since he mentioned it as well. It being the only one on ebay for a long time made me think it might be hard to find.

The revenge had a better flow to it. I think flow is very important in games, especially platformers.

    These arrived today:

    t14zGRpl.jpg

The Power Base Converter and the Master System games are from Jack burton on here, great seller, got the stuff to me quickly. Haven't had the chance to test them out yet, but it's in great nick, and a nice selection of games to start off my Master System collection (again). The Sonic games were some eBay purchases, got them fairly cheap (shipping from the UK was reasonable, didn't have to use Parcel Motel which is always nice :P).

    8yKf1FJl.jpg

RGB Scart cable for my Mega Drive which has yet to arrive :( Got them from this crowd. Again, reasonable postage from UK, and they seem like a high quality cable.

From the reviews i read its getting 7 or 8/10's so far.. I think the hype and build up to it is whats letting it down in peoples opinions, I'll prob pick it up over the weekend and see for myself that I have a few days off.

I think it would have been received better if it made the launch of XB1 and PS4 as originally planned. inFamous: Second Son gave me my fix of open world games for a while. I'll probably pick it up cheap on PC in a few months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

I've only played about an hour of it so far but first impressions are that it's not as bad as some people are making out. There was a lot of hype built up and I guess some people had it built up to be the next GTA with hacking which it's definitely not. It definitely has more of a saints row/sleeping dogs vibe.

Driving isn't great but it's easy enough to adapt to it, as with other sandbox games. I do find it a bit confusing as when you're driving around there's lots of hacking options with traffic lights and stuff so it can be a bit distracting when you have all these prompts popping up.

I know people were saying the 360 version suffers graphically but I think it's on par with what's currently out there. Saying that I haven't seen the PS4/XB1 versions so I don't know how it compares.

Story seems interesting and supposedly gets better later on in the game.

Overall I'd say it's worth a play. Definitely not worth the €60 it's selling for in stores so wait a couple of months and pick it up for €30.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

Actually there is one feature which I'm dying to try once the servers are up and that's the iPad app. It's basically where you get a top down view of someone's game as the police and you can deploy lots of different weapons and tactics to try and stop them.

Definitely seems like something that'd work really well on the wii u.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,087 ✭✭✭Doge

I think I'll be getting Watch Dogs when I buy a PS3 soon, it looks pretty epic!

And the fact I have an ipad makes me want it even more.

My cousin will have it soon anyway, so I'll get to try before I buy!
