Steel Dragon Ex was awaiting me at work this morning, looking forward to trying it out later.
Apparently is poorly optimised, 50Hz only, but we'll give it a shot.
If it's decent I might spring for the PS1 version of the original game, looks like am interesting buy.
    Homura should be here soon!

I didn't bid on the Raiden board, it went for 70 in the end.

I blame Pyongyang for this , never knew there was a CAVE shooting artworks book until I stumbled on his blog so I ordered before I knew what hit me .

Car booty from sunday. It was missing the power supply but I have that now sorted.
Now that I think about it, nearly every console I have bought at car boots seem to be missing something... helps to haggle down the price I guess :D

Oh and thanks to The Last Bandit for advice on what alternative PSU to get.

Very nice , never had a 2600 Jr and sold my woody long ago :(

Someone has been shopping with young Jeffrey Rancor haven't they? The Kit Kats gave it away sir! :)

I'm going to be brining home literally bin liners full of SACKS of those Kit Kats, they are incredible. Also these pizza flavour crisps my wife discovered that literally taste like mouthfuls of cheese and tomato pizza with every bite.

They must just consist of MSG and hallucinogenics or something as they are ridiculously accurate to the real thing flavour-wise.

Is that an Akai Katana Superplay? Nice! I might pick that up on Saturday but am looking for the Battle Garegga Superplay if I can find it, it's pretty hard to get and I can't take Jeff's personal copy! :)

That Shooting Artworks book is amazing, there is a lot of Deathsmiles coverage in there, but some lavish Dai Ou Jou and Ketsui art too. I think Progear is in there too right? That book has pride of place on my shelf, hopefully with the Shooting History book snuggled in next to it soon.

    Nice GET action sir!

Oh and Shooting Gameside is always a massive result. Don't forget to get Vol. 5 that just came out!

But, in general, US chocolate is awful.

How does Japanese milk chocolate compare to, say, the good stuff, Belgian maybe?

Chez Emily real Belgian chocolate, made in their little kitchen near the Coolquay Lodge.
    Best. Chocolate. Ever!

Pierre Marcolini's Chocolate is the absolute best I have ever tasted. In Brussels of course, one of the great chocolate houses, more exclusive than the others yet less conservative than the likes of Leonidas or Guylian. Seriously if ever in Brussels you must go there.

You must also go to FriteLand for an entirely different but just as enjoyable culinary treat.

It is an excellent book though, just skip straight to the shooting game chapter though!

I read it all as prep material for Saturday. :D

I finally made it to Tokyo today, here are my first Tokyo gaming GET!'s.

If you look at the photo, perhaps you may know what game I played today and yes, my life is now complete. I can die happy. :)

Is that first magazine about emulation? That's what the katakana title seems to suggest...
EDIT: nevermind, it's written in english above it... \facepalm

Found a Sega ST-V mobo locally for € 35,- to hold my Shienryu cart that's still stored in japan and got a nice free game as a bonus , it's a bootleg cart but works perfectly and is fun .

Cool, what game is it? Cotton Boomerang bootleg I've seen as a bundle before.

EDIT: The photo loaded after I posted this, apologies. :)

Sorry about the large photo, I'm using my iPad so sorta limited in messing around with snaps.

Yep, the first book is about emulation, it covers everything from Fm Towns, X68000 to Dreamcast etc. it comes with a DVD too, hence the purchase. There were also some really cool manga. One I nearly bought was of a lollipop chainsaw style heroine that had a Dreamcast console for a head. Bizarre but looked really cool! Also found loads of well known titles like Famitsu, Arcadia, Old Gamers (no relation to Adultappleflavouredbeveragemale), Gundam Perfect File, Famista, Game Center CX (really expensive though), Hobby Japan and so on. There was also a cool Famicom Dictionary. Again, expensive for what it was.

A lot of the books and magazines have pack-ins/free gifts that would put any plastic-bagged, free gift bumper magazines we have to shame. :(

Nice, whereabouts were you finding them, specialised shops or general newsagents? Wasn't really looking for stuff like that when I was there but this time I might do

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Kinokunia sells them all. I bought mine in Shinjuku, there is one at the station and one in central Shinjuku town. You can buy all the Game Centre CX box set DVD's at a place called, err, I forget the actual name but it sounds like Larramie Cigarettes from The Simpsons.

Be carefully though, I went in thinking it was a general DVD shop and it was actually 2 floors of really dodgy (and I mean dodgy) porn with a smattering of anime and game discs. I didn't stay in there long, just saw the CX sets and left.

Got a few more of my MVS carts out of storage. So you know what that means?

    NEO MINIBOXES ASSEMBLE!

    NEOMINIBOXES1.jpg

Still have two labels left for games which aren't there. The amount of space they take up when boxed is only starting to dawn on me now. Absolutely nowhere to put them at the mo!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Those boxes look great! Glad you finally got them all sorted. :)

I've been waiting a long time to assemble those boxes. Must be almost a year ago when we ordered them!

They really do look great. Miles better than a a box of bare carts :)

How many do you have? I've 19 AES carts and they are a nuisance space wise or even a hindrance.

It's just that all my other games are neatly slotted in side by side on the shelving unit and then the AES ones just came along and said 'piss off with your shelving arrangements!'.
Their just stacked on the floor in the sitting room like unruly houseguests.
