1. Predict the IMT for June, the 1981-2010 average was 13.7 C.

2. Predict the maximum temperature for June at any met.ie station as reported in the Monthly Summary.

3. Predict the minimum temperature for June at any met.ie station as reported in the Monthly Summary.

4. Predict the rainfall as percentage of normal values, as reported for eleven met-ie stations in the Monthly Summary.

5. Predict the sunshine as percentage of normal values, as reported for however many met-ie stations in the Monthly Summary.

Three ways to score, your choice how many you try, and you get the highest score of the three, even if you blow the other question(s).

Ireland plays Croatia in their opening game on June 10th (evening) of Euro 2012 in Poznan, Poland.

A. Predict the maximum temperature for the day at Dublin (A). Max you can score with this is 10.

B. Predict the game time temperature defined as the 18z METAR from Poznan. Remember, Poland is about two time zones east of Ireland in solar terms (doesn't really matter about civil time) so 18z in Ireland which is 1900h summer time would be more like 20z in the Polish time zone, and also please note this 18z temperature takes precedence over whatever TV announcers say the temperature is at the game venue. I will stick my neck out and say the "normal" value for this time of day is about 18 C at that location. Max you can score with this is 10.

C. Predict the game result. Remember, no extra time, draws can be the final score. This will score a max of 5 as an insurance on your temperature forecasts. Score will be based on 3 for correct form (win, draw, lose) and another 2 for correct goals (e.g., Ireland wins 3-1, you say 2-1, you score 4).

I know it's complicated, but we'll get back to the normal simplicity of the weather contest next month (i.e., no Olympic sailing contests in knots off The Lizard, bonus how many false starts in the 100 metres?).

note: anyone can edit or amend their forecasts without penalty to 0300 Saturday 2nd which is the deadline for forecasts in general ... during the next 24h (to 0300 Sunday) you're on the 60+ penalty, and on Sunday you're in late late time with the door barred at 0300 Monday 4th, sorry etc.

Will be scoring the merry merry month of May as soon as data arrive in my sphere of unconsciousness.
