Creaking French Patio Door

One of the doors has started to creak quiet loudly. Couldn't find much help on the olde tinternet so maybe one of you guys has the solution.


Its a standards white PVC French door with Andersen hinges. I removed all the white casings on the hinges and applied a good bit of WD 40, but no improvement.

It appears (to my ear) that its the bottom hinge. I put a 4 foot spirit level at the bottom of each door and then both appear level enough (the sound is like the door is creaking under its own weight if that makes any sense).

Any suggestions on what else I might try to cure the noise?

WD-40 is not a lubricant!

It can make things worse by removing lubricant. A spray silicone/ptfe lubricant would be better.

Thanks for reply. The main problem turned out to be the hinge itself and the fact that it could be adjusted with an allen key, which I didn't realise.
