    The definitive thread! :P

Make your predictions/bitch about accounting here :)

I have about 5 days to study for accounting so here's hoping I can get all the course covered in those few days as well as the economics course which I have two days later

What I think will come up:
    Q1- Company Final Accounts

    Q2- Revaluation
    Q3- Tabular Statments
    Q4- Service Firms

    Q5- Interpretation
    Q6- Suspense
    Q7- Published

    Q8- Stock Vakuation/Overhead Apportionment
    Q9- Flexible Budgeting.

(Sorry I couldn't break the poll options into the separate sections, polls have a maximum of 25 options so had couldn't show the 60 mark and 100 mark questions separately.)

    Flexible Budgeting
I will be a happy camper if it is:
    1.Company
    6.Suspense
    7.Service
    9. straight forward Cash Budgeting

    Flexible Budgeting
    Q8- Stock Vakuation/Overhead Apportionment
    Q9- Flexible Budgeting.

A Flexible Budget Wont be coming up as a full question its seen as being too easy.
A Cash Budget will be on it its just what type. It could be like in 09 where its was mixed with a production budget. Its definatley not going to be straight forward anyway.

Id say a company A/C is almost guarenteed but again this is in no way going to be straight forward. For the 100 marks it hard to call, interpretation will be there and id say its between a Published, Cash Flow, Sevice/Farm, and Suspense or maybe Incomplete since it didnt come up as a 100 mark last year.

    Flexible Budgeting
    I reckon:

    Q.1) Sole Trader
    Q.5) Ratios
    Q.6) Suspense
    Q.7) Incomplete
    Q.8) Stock valuation/ Product costing
    Q.9) Cash budgeting

I'm gonna study Sole Trader, Company A/C's, Ratios and costing in the 3-4 days I have before the exam:p

    Flexible Budgeting
I advise learning every single topic as they all have equal chance, and dont get caught out like me last year and be repeating!!, but heres what i think will be up:)

    60's
    - Reval
    - Suspense
    - Cashflow

    100's
    -Ratios
    -Published
    -Farm

    80's
    - Job Costing
    - Budgeting(pro-forma)

My teacher reckons the Costing (question 8) will be asked in parts not as a whole question like Stock Valuation + something else.

I did the 2012 pre, 2010 and 2007 question 8's earlier and they were grand, hope it comes up in the structure with Stock Valuation:p

Flexible is possible I think. they want to put on as much theory as possible and with a flexy, they'd get loads on!

    My predictions are

    Depreciation straight line
    Suspense
    Farm (60,s)

    Ratios
    Published
    Cash flow
    (100)

    Flexible or normal budget.

My teacher thinks that if they put company as Q1 then published won't be a 100 marker.. too much company? sheo could be chatting rubbish? I dunno :/

Which imcomplete records do you reckon are more likely if they come up in Q6/7?

I hope she is!! Published would be great as a 100! :L And I don't do q1 so it'd be annoying if that happens! I probably would rather Cash Flow 100 though tbh.... And suspense 100!

Incomplete Records (Forward) i think is the one

if this paper came up i think i would cry with happiness - especially since i'm repeating and accounting screwed me last year :P

    Q1 - Company
    Q5 - Ratios
    Q6 - Cash Flow Forecasts
    Q7 - Incompleter Records Forward
    Q9 - Flexible Budgeting

that's just the paper i'd love to come up and would stand a chance of getting a B on :D

anyway is anyone else really worried that they'll do something like put departmental up for Q1 and not have ratios on the paper?

  • Registered Users Posts: 348 ✭✭xclw

    Marginal Costing
ok if i study this do you think i'll be ok?

    Q1 - learning all 4 (not taking a risk :D )
    Ratios
    cash flow
    published
    incomplete
    suspense
    and either service firm/farm a/cs
    and all the budgeting?

    Flexible Budgeting
My teacher said farm has never come up as a 100 mark question before, so here is hoping it stays that way, and as for departmental not a chance will that come up, if it were to come up there would have been some sort of indication by the department, would be farily **** if it did though

What do you guys think the B/C parts of interpretation will be?
I reckon shareholders and lowering gross profit percentage/advise the company.

    My dream paper:
    2. Revaluation
    3. Farm
    5. Shareholders
    6. Published
    7. Suspense
    9. Flexible

    God I'd cry with happiness.

It'll be shareholders or debentures anyway.. Most years is shareholders and hopefully it is this year:D

    My dream paper:

    Q1) Company
    Q5)Interpretation
    Q6)Service firm
    Q7)Suspense
    Q9)Flexible

Only problem would be that I wouldnt know which two of 5,6 and 7 to pick!

    Flexible Budgeting
    I'd say

    Q2 Revaluation
    Q3 Cash Flow Statement
    Q4 Farm Account

    Q5 interpretation
    Q6 Suspense
    Q7 Service Firm

    Q8 Product Costing/ Fifo/ Job Costing
    Q9 Cash Budget ( with production )

It was, but they probably will wait another year or two before putting up a 100 again. I'd love it to be a 100! Lets hope it will be!
