Hi I'm looking for someone that has an interest in videography/photography who would be open to working together as business partners producing videos for individuals or companies to put on their website to promote their service or product etc.
The pay comes from fees earned with Client bookings.

I would also be open to combining  my skills, equipment and business with another video business as long as we are partners.

I want this business to be the "go to" business in the online video marketing niche.

If you are interested then respond to post and tell me about yourself and why you think you would be a good business partner.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I've seen many of these companies come and go. I don't think people are all that convinced on videos for marketing and there's good reason for it too. The companies that have failed have done the basic in front of green screen company introduction interview, this type of video only serves to stroke the MDs ego and is of no benefit to anyone else. The cost of video is quite high so it's going to be hard to make video cost effective that's a valued sales tool.

    Thanks for the reply.

People aren't convinced on videos for marketing yet because they haven’t been fully informed as to the huge benefits it gives. Numerous independent studies and analysis have been carried out over the last few years (20 min on a Google search will show the results in the various studies) and they all show video marketing to be the main growth area for the next number of years especially with the rise in popularity of the smart phone - after all, it all boils down to one thing - People prefer to watch and listen than read text on a website..

I don't do MD's in front of a green screen- I produce videos with John the carpenter showing samples of his first and second fix work, interview with past customers who tell the viewer what their experience with John was like and then all the relevant contact details for potential customers to get in touch or Ann the artist who explains to the viewers the inspiration behind the painting, why she chose the medium she did and her feelings on the completed work thus giving viewers a unique perspective on the piece of art they may have admired with a brief glance but now stop to take it all in.

With regard to the price - my basic package starts at €210 - When you consider the cost of print media advertising which is often included in a publication once and then lost forever compared with an online marketing video which is working 24/7, 365 days a year reaching a target audience – then the online video marketing rates I give clients, offer excellent value for money.

I appreciate your point of a badly produced video being more harmful to a company then not having a video on their site - that’s why I urge anyone considering having a video produced to ask the following questions:

    - What are your goals: Why are you making this video? What do you want to accomplish with it?

    - Who is your audience?

    - What is the time frame and budget?

    - What do you want the viewers to do with the information given?

    - How will you measure success?

    - How will you share and/or use the finished video?

    - What is your story? You are paring down a story to its bare minimum - what is that minimum that is also compelling to the audience?

Hope this explains where I'm coming from with regard to producing online marketing videos.

I agree with this; but I looked through the videos on your portfolio page and youtube page, and most of the "Videos" were slideshows with mountains of text. How's this any different from reading text on a website aside from having music playing and not being able to read at your own pace due to the text changing?

The one you did for CJT is the type of thing you should be aiming for. The one for 4ourdog would just put me off if I watched that on their website.

The videos are produced to suit the clients budget and businesses are finding things very tight at the moment. Of course I point out the added value in a full HD video production but at the end of the day the Client wishes have to be met.
The 4ourdog was produced for a client in Canada that just wanted a visual taster for prospective clients as to what his store offers which he posted on his Facebook page and emailed on his newsletter. He said there was a notable rise in customer inquiries after the video was produced and was very happy with the service.

Businesses are finding things tight at the moment, of course they are; but do you not agree that a slidedshow with walls of text is a bit redundent when you can read walls of text and look at photos on the website at your own pace?

The only use I can think of for a slideshow is if you're showing off a photographer's/graphic designer's work (though I'm sure there are some other examples too)

You'll find there isn't "walls of text" just the main bullet points and the contact info required. This works in a similar way that individuals use powerpoint presentations to get their message across when giving a lecture or talk on a particular subject.
The video has a "pause", "rewind" and "play" button so people can go at their own pace...
Video slideshows work for a numerous businesses that have a product/service to sell for example:
    - Landscapers
    - Painting contractors
    - Joiners
    - Florists
    - Wedding Dress designers
    - Tattoo artists
    - Crash repair centres
    - Carpet Fitters
    - Tilers
    - etc......

That really depends. If I go to a site looking for information it annoys me when the site throttles back the rate I can access that information by putting it in some video. I have to sit through titles and flying pictures to read a paragraph. The easiest and most convenient way to assimilate most information online is by reading it.

Testimonials from customers are great for video as long as the video is requested and doesn't start spontaneously playing when you look for testimonials.

Videos are great as long as their used where video trumps all other ways of getting information across to the user. IE: tutorials, walk through's. But overuse at the wrong time can just drive people away. Videos for businesses have to have a clear and concise point and agenda that couldn't have been achieved using a simpler method, IE text or pictures.

I'm not trying to attack video, it is great and I know your in the position of selling video but I think you should focus your videos on something specific further down the chain of information instead of general overall ad/introduction/presentation type things.

In the example of a carpet fitter the specialist explains something specific about buying/fitting carpets the type of question people would ask, would not only answer a customers question but if it's on youtube could generate more business because people will be asking that question in searches.

Personally I dont think offering HD as an optional extra cuts it today.
This should be standard from the start.
I am only an amateur at this game but have 4 or 5 videos to do for businesses over the next 2 months and its HD all the way.
The extras I offer are voice overs (although I reccommend against them) and the use of camera cranes as well as a helicopter if they wish to take it that far.

For some reason I switch off when text comes on screen as I feel a video made properly will tell its own story and the contact details should form the only text at the end of the video but again I will present the client with both options and let them chose offering my opinion only if they are undecided.
I appreciate different approaches are needed for different products but as I mainly work with agri and engineering businesses I find the video lends itself well to portraying the service or product on offer.

This is a rough mock up of a video I am doing for a local business and think text would take from the overall effect?

    - etc......

I just don't think that style works as it doesn't utilise the big advantages that video has over slideshows or powerpoint presentations; which is audio and moving pictures.

There was a business networking conference near the end of last year and one successful businessman went up and gave a powerpoint presentation about his business. He bored everyone to tears and the room was rapidly losing interest in the entire thing.

A second successful businessman went up and showed a one minute video that consisted of him talking about his business. It was quick, snappy and well edited (he runs a "creative" type of business so you can imagine the quirky style of the video) He immediately got the rooms attention back and they hung onto his every word. He got a HUGE round of applause afterwards.

Personally I think video is a fantastic tool for businesses when used to its full potential; but I don't believe a slideshow with text and music is ANYWHERE near its full potential.

I hope you don't think I'm attacking you by the way, this is all just my opinion.

There are times to use HD and times to use SD; but I agree that there shouldn't be any extra charge for HD considering it's becoming the minimum standard for broadcasting now.

It seems now like I'm contradicting my previous comments; but I'm not against text completely in a video. Often it can be useful, but has to be kept to a minimum. If one is making a video for marketing purposes (helping to promote a business or sell a product) then they have to have the marketing instincts to come up with a short and catchy line/sentence/tagline etc.

Nice work on that tractor video BTW. I know it's a rough cut so it's probably missing a few things, but I'm not exactly sure what you're promoting there. Buying farma machinary? Renting farm machinary? Promoting local farms and goods? Promoting local work/jobs available?

Of course, this could be going into a webpage titled "Farm Machinary for Sale", which would make my points redundant:D

Understandable that the video is unclear as is mentioned its a very rough cut so obviously is misssing an intro screen etc and alot of scenes are to be changed out for other more on topic shots but as the advert will be aimed at those in the industry it will be quite clear to those in the know what is being promoted and as such I suppose makes this an easier project than most.
Taking a generic product that appeals to the mass public I'm sure would be much harder but I do believe it could be done with minimal text.

Video is for the lazy minded IMO and I think there is an element of that in everyone unless you are in need a product and are actively seeking it which in that case text is not such a hurdle or turn off

It wouldn't really, what is the video for? Who is it for? What exactly is it advertising? The way that video is now it is just tractor porn as there's' no indication what the videos selling. I think some information explaining what's going on in the video would help as it's just a video with tractors in it at the moment.

In advertising text definitely has a place because your trying to give the viewer information even if it is just a phone number or website. The company logo and contact details should probably be on display at all times or at least most of the time so that the customer doesn't have to search for anything.

Understandable you would say that but bear in mind this video is industry specific as the business in question deals strictly with people who already know of its existance.Intro text and ending text with contact details etc is yet to be added.
Potential customers would be well aware of the service provided and stock sold so if you were to ask me why they want ithis video done I would have to say its merely a willy wagging exercise :D
