Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I have a pasture field ploughed and ready for seed,should i add anything to the grass seed.A neighbour suggested oats at four stone per acre.
    I intend to graze this field when the new grass comes .

    Yes the oats will mean that you can graze the field earlier. You could also use forage rape at a low seeding rate.

    Is it earlier as it establishes earlier or does it toughen up the sward ?? Never heard it mentioned before..

    You can graze the oats lightly so it should get the grass seed tillering earlier. You would want to be grazing with light stock in reasonably dry weather. It depends on the weather some years you could graze 4 weeks after a year like this year would take a lot longer.
