Nokia 1800 work in the USA?

    I bought my mom a nokia 1800 sim free from Harvey Norman about 6 months ago, and I'm going to America for 3 months on Wednesday...If I buy a simcard in America will the phone work?

    I'm really confused about the GSM option, so I don't know if it will work?
