New Atelier game announced. Last on the Mysterious trilogy which I'm told has been a bit lacklustre.

    Any interest in blue reflection?

    Any interest in blue reflection?

Maybe when it gets a price drop, 80% of the game is socializing, while the other 20% is combat.

Can't wait for it. A RPG with Magical Girls? It's two of my favourite things combined.

I actually don't mind that there's a lot of socialising. I always preferred that in Person games and the non combat stuff in Atelier games.

Also the game has a soundtrack that rivals Nier for the best this year.

IKR!? I was hoping they'd change on it with stuff like Yomiwari coming over on Vita but no. I was really deva, I doubt there'd be some kinda patch? It would take years probably. Irs a right bummer.

Apparently it's awful on Vita anyway. Loads of slow down and lag.

Atelier firis is a game I regret buying on vita, it unplayable, very choppy.

Yeah but I'm more excited for Nights of Azure 2, either way I'm happy Gust's other titles are picking up the slack when the last couple of Atelier's have been so weak

I'd kill for a new Mana Khemia or Ar Tonelico though

Very interested but its the kind of premise where execution is everything and its feels like the low budget that Gust games typically have could hurt this game a lot so I'll be waiting for impressions.

The general complaint I see is that the other world in it felt lifeless and empty. But then I saw that complaint levelled at Nights of Azure when it was clearly portraying a lonely world of night where you're struggling alone

Didn't realise blue reflection is out today on steam. That's my evening sorted.

Meant to be a few issues with resolution so I'm guessing it uses the dynasty warriors engine so needs a hex edit to change res.... which usually screws with the AA.

Eh I climbed a mountain, came home and the bake off was on then a friend asked me to go to a table quiz afterwards. I'm giving it a quick go now.

Need to hit bed, it's too late.

Played a bit of the game but most of my time was wrestling with settings.

It's a pretty lame PC port. Video compression is awful on the FMV, there's no anti aliasing for some insane reason, ambient occlusion is broken and I think they ported the Vita version instead of the PS4 version as some shadows are just plain missing (while said shadows are much higher quality than PS4...?).

It's the also the Dynasty Warriors engine meaning it doesn't play nice with any resolution above 1080p which is utter madness in this day and age. Hopefully there's a patch to sort out shadows, Ambient Occlusion and AA issues but I doubt they will sort resolution as it's been an issue with that engine for years. Kind of annoying as the Atelier engine works brilliantly.

As for the game, I think i'll be enjoying the battle system. It's turn based but has a turn order meter like Grandia and you can choose between attacks to deal heavy damage or lighter damage but knock the enemy back in the turn order meter. I really like games were you can affect turn order.

They finally went back to the Grandia style battle system? Been a long time since Atelier Iris 2, that's what got me to try Atelier games to begin with

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,415 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Yeah it seems like Grandia but it's very early days!

In other news Atlus filed a DMCA against the PS3 emulators patreon ...

One other thing to note, the soundtrack is incredible.

Beat the first boss there. I'm really enjoying it so far.

F*ck. Game Collection just cancelled my copy of Danganronpa v3 PS Vita due to "payment processing problems". Absolute crap the funds are there and as I was using my Revolut I get a phone notification for all transactions, of which I never received. Reckon its more down to supply issues seeing as Amazon have delisted the vita version and is currently out of stock on the Game Collection website.

Smt IV Apocalypse and 7th Dragon Code are half price on the eshop until Thursday for the 3DS.

Saw that. Don't really know much about either of them - anyone played them? Are the worth getting?

Apocalypse is a great game, but you will need to play SMT IV first to get the most out of it, especially as regards the neutral route, but you could still enjoy the game without playing IV.
