I played that for 25-30 hours, really enjoyed my time with it, but got to a point where I just hated the world map so much that I stopped playing and doubt I ever will go back. Is it any different in SMT4 Apocalypse?

Otherwise, I finished the story in Disgaea 5. I know there's an absolute ton of post-game content but it just feels so inaccessible, I really have no idea what the progression route is. Think I'm just going to use a guide. I've really enjoyed the game so want to get a bit more from it.

Apaprently the world map is way better in apocalypse.

Takuro Yama****a the presisent of NiS America issued an apology today about the very sub par localisation of Ys VIII.

    1ujs41.png

Lucky enough it is still sitting in its box unopened, looks like it will be another few weeks before I start it with the patch coming late November.

He might apologise but it did lead to one of the greatest translation blunders of all time, near master of unlocking good.

An area in the Japanese version is called: CREVICE OF THE ARCHEOZOIC ERA

It's even presented in English as that in the introduction to the area.

NISA localised it as this, despite it kind of already being localised

    3300276-1.jpg

I've noticed since Tecmo Koei have started localising Gust games the translations have been very subpar as well.

NISA arent the worst localization group around but the step down in quality from XSeed is undeniable, XSeed are probably the best in the business and treated Ys and Trails with utmost reverence

if the rumour about NISA also doing Trails of Cold Steel 3 is true that'll be a real kick in the teeth

    http://gematsu.com/2017/10/tokyo-xanadu-ex-ps4-launches-december-8-north-america

Tokyo Xanadu ex+ PS4 is coming December 8th. The vita version of this also had a lot of translation issues so hopefully they will also fix it up for this release

I dont know why Falcom didnt stick with XSeed for everything :( even so, I'll take trying and failing a thousand times over replacing the script with memes or cutting content and features because it "doesnt resonate with the west"

I've a feeling xseed have their hands full translating Trails games.

Tokyo xandu and Ys, two of my favorite games this year.

Falcon need more love. Their action RPGs put to shame everything else on the genre.

  • Registered Users Posts: 591 ✭✭✭Sieghardt

The problem with both Ys and Trails is that people hear the series have 8+ games with a continuous story and they just peace out, even though it doesnt really matter for Ys imo

That's why I'm hoping Tokyo Xanadu is a good game to introduce people to these games

Rumour that Ni No Kuni II is coming to xbox based on this spanish IGN report.

Not one i'm familiar with but Xbox are in bad need of some games from japan imo.

First game was one of the worst RPGs of last generation, ignore the reviews. They seem to be biased based on the graphics and Ghibli influence, who only had a hand in the art.

This one might be an improvement though. It would want to be.

It wasnt one of the worst but it wasnt one of the best either, very definition of a middle of the road mediocre game imo

I'd be very surprised if that's true too, Level 5 have a long standing feud with microsoft

Tried to get into the post game stuff in Disgaea 5 but the amount of grinding required is insane. And it's basically impossible to know what to do without a guide. There's an absolute ton of content there that the vast majority of people will never see which is kind of a shame.

Speaking of the worst JRPGs of last gen, Star Ocean 4 is getting a rerelease on PS4 & PC
    http://gematsu.com/2017/10/star-ocean-last-hope-4k-full-hd-remaster-launches-november-28-americas-europe

and there was a teaser for a new JRPG on the Playstation channel

    https://youtu.be/ZYRE_avtdps

looks kinda low budget but maybe an interesting concept

and also the Super Robot Wars team are making a Full Metal Panic! SRPG. Strangely enough, it's already in english and dubbed

So thats all 5 SO games available on the PS4 now, pity First Departure and Second Evolution were not released in the west on PS4 due to being PSP ports.

  • Registered Users Posts: 591 ✭✭✭Sieghardt

A real pity, since they are imo the best games in the series and they're good remakes

Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory is due to start airing in the Spring season next year, Xebec are probably handling any in game animation.

Pity the 6th book, Dancing Very Merry Christmas, is being skipped for the new series which is basically Die Hard FMP style. FMP IV is starting from volume 7, Continuing On My Own, with the first 5 volumes being covered by FMP and Second Raid.

It doesn't show much but I'm very excited.
Do you think it'll come west?
P5 did so well but did SMTIV?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,893 ✭✭✭megaten

SMT did around 200,000 copies in the US as far as I know so I wouldn't worry. Switch is region free so it doesn't even matter if they forget about europe again.

That's great to know and that's a good sign then we haven't really missed one yet. I was worried for a bit.

When is Strange Journey out actually?
