Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Early warning for elderly relative

    Hi, I have an elderly uncle who lives alone in a different town from his family. He is determined, and happy, to stay there but is frail and in need of support.

    I am trying to put together a kind of observational early warning package that would alert us if anything went wrong.

    The type of things I am thinking about are;

    * personal alarm button
    * pressure sensors in his bed to raise the alarm if he doesn't return withing a specified period.
    * pressure pads at the frond door to tell if he has left/returned
    * heat detectors in the kitchen to sense if anything is left on
    * remote cameras

    Is there such a thing as a standard package? Is there any company / website that specialises in this sort of thing?

    Money is not that much of an issue.

    I think that's possible but would be expensive ... Have a look at the PSA list of installers ... Or look here on boards for some of them.. They'd be happy to help

    I am in the same situation with my granduncle. We have home-help organised three times daily. However, 4 years ago he fell in the middle of the night, broke his hip and crawled back to bed. His phone was beside the bed but he didn't want to ring anyone and disturb them! He is back driving now though - and was 95 recently. It's very difficult to help without bossing or intruding. The homehelp is fantastic for him though.

    Have a look at the visonic kit here
    It would tick most of the boxes

    +1 The Visonic Amber would do that & much more.
    You could use PiRs instead of pressure sensors. You could have temp sensors . It does audio pill reminders which make a call if they are not acknowledged.
    It can also use any combination of alarm devices to trigger calls.
    Eg if he's not out of the bedroom by a certain time, if he's not home by a certain time etc..
