Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It could be anything from the first Gameboy to a 360, mp3 player to a stereo, sat nav or laptop..
For me it has to be my Samsung Galaxy S2. Its top dog right now. I know people without them think they're gimmicky but once you get one it becomes apparent what a natural progression of technology it is.
Web browsing (Im creating this topic on my phone), mp3 player, portable gaming machine, social networker (twitter on the bounce is wonderful), news feed apps, sat nav/gps, and all round multimedia device for calls and texts, picture and video. Just brilliant really.

I was wondering what sorts of stuff you guys had the most appreciation for?
Anyone still in love with casette tapes?!

My phone (Which is actually top dog at the moment and not last gen :P). Definitely one of the more useful gadgets I have.

My HTPC. I don't buy alot of things but on the rare occasion I like to treat meself.

Insane amount of selection of TV shows & movies and thousands of games from arcade and consoles right up to the PS2 with the odd latest PC game thrown in.

Myself and the GF have started watching Quantum Leap again in between The Fresh Prince of Bel Air :pac:

It's great to come home from work and just relax with all the things I can do with it. It frees up my other machines for their real purpose.............porn!

My laptop. Does that count as a gadget? I use it for work and play. Can't stand not having it around, and when I go away somewhere for a night or several I always bring it and a small MIDI controller.

The Galaxy S2 top dog ? Have you seen the Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X :pac:

Serious answer: Most people would say their phone, for many its the last thing they use at night and the first thing they look at in the morning (Alarm Clock).

Sure 30 years ago you would've been carrying around all this

Well I love my Samsung Galaxy S2, but my favourite new piece of tech is my HD dashboard camera. Here's some videos of me messing around. Yes we never grow up.

First one I make my mate Chris drive backwards by driving directly at him.*

This one I drive and swerve a bit with a car full of lads that are too full of Nandos chicken, testing their stomachs out* :P

*Legal note, may or may not have been me driving, may or may not have been in my car :p

Keyring bottle opener. Best gadget ever, over 10 years old now and hasn't let me down once and have had many forgettable nights with it.

I have a little Asus EEE PC "netbook" that's four years old and going strong. Not the very smallest one, but the 10" type with the very good keyboard - a good thing, because I've written the equivalent of a book on it, at least. It wasn't the fastest machine when I got it, but it has two solid state drives (SSDs) totalling 40GB. It runs Ubuntu Linux well, so I can find software to do almost anything I want, and install it, in a minute.

After getting used to this flexibility, I'm not going to "downgrade" to an Android device - we're finally seeing less expensive Linux tablets hitting the market, such as the Vivaldi - and then that'll be my next favourite gadget.

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

Today it's my HTC One X and my iPad.

And back in the day it was my Gameboy (1st gen) and SNES.

I like to refer to 'back in the day' as the 'good old days'!

A minidisc player c.1999. Great piece of kit.

You could record through input or in-built mic, edit/copy/move/delete/name tracks on the disc, never skipped, was way before mp3 players became common place.

    I miss my minidisc :(

Kindle. Holds a bajillion books, it's light and really comfortable to read and most importantly the battery holds for a good month or more depending on how often you use it. It's absolutely brilliant for travelling/backpacking.

If you're also a no good dirty rotten pirate you can get most books for free... ahem.. not that I would advocate that....

I had an NC10 that packed in lately. I had it over 3 years. Brilliant to have. It would have been my previous answer before I got this phone.

my Acer laptop - I use it for everything from shopping to films to holidays).
my Camera - It takes such clear pictures and it's still going strong after 3/4 years.

I tentatively took a step into the smartphone world this week and got myself a samsung nexus. I can see how these things can become a foundation of someones day to day life and I only have it a few days.

In order tho, my gadgets would be my laptop, dslr camera and phone. No matter what type of phone, i think in this day and age having to be without one is torture.

    In the following order:

    iPhone 4.
    Acer netbook.
    iPod Classic 160GB.
    Leatherman Multitool.
Crystal powered mini torch (developed for the US military) on my keyring that i've had for 9yrs now (and yes it still works 100%). It has the brightest most intense blue light from it that lights up a huge area for all the size of it and the light has never diminished/lessened since i got it.

    E-cigs (any brand, it's the delayed-dying I like).
Any device that uses iOS (before the Android fanboys pop in, it's because of the MIDI apps).
    Novation Launchpad.
    Korg Kaoss Pad 3.
    Korg PadKontrol.
    Lenovo Thinkpad.

Life is so much more liveable with these.
