Does Limerick need outside help?

The 'War' against drugs - Seems like the Gardaí aren't making much headway against a handful of well known families operating happily in a relatively small area - sure there's the odd arrest but its hard to believe that enough is being done when these guys are swanning around living MTV cribs lives with no visible source of income. Surely there are 101 external telltale signs when local yobs run a drugs empire from a couple of suburban housing estates???

City Council. Wouldn't it be nice if someone gave them a hand? Maybe a few basic pointers on City management, how not to further destroy the City etc.

Basic policing on our streets and suburbs. Some impartial 3rd party needs to assess this over the space of a month or so. I doubt there are many first world Cities where 999 calls are simply ignored 'because we're busy ok?' Its fend for yourself out there and there is no deterrent or fear of repercussions for Scumbags as they are they only ones who bother to patrol our streets.

Limerick Regeneration - Why does this have to continue as a complete train-wreck and then fail utterly before the hard questions are asked? Surely its time to act now before all the money is gone and all that's left are lame excuses and the usual lack of culpability as the current crowd lounging around cluelessly in there walk away in typical Irish 'nobody to blame here' fashion?

- Whatever happens, if things remain on this course then the downward spiral is only going to accelerate.......

No accountability whatsoever, just a guaranteed pension when they decide to swan off into the sunset.

A RETIRING city manager has received a bumper pension payoff of over €310,000 after nine years in that role.

Tom Mackey's duties as Limerick's city manager ended on Tuesday and he is now able to claim a gross lump-sum pension pay-off of €311,488 after a long career in local government.

Limerick City Council confirmed last night that after deductions Mr Mackey received €271,466. The council spokesman said Mr Mackey's annual pension payout would be €73,422 per annum.

By the time the 58-year old reaches his 85th birthday, Mr Mackey will have received €1.98m in pension payments from the State on top of the lump sum just received.

Vote YES on Thursday, to keep the gravy train rolling, for some.

we got outside help, did we not get that nice mr kenny was drafted in to run a gravy train called regeneration. some years back the guy that cleaned up nyc offered his services and that of 32 hand picked assistants for FREE to clean up ireland, he would start with dublin then move to the other citys one at a time, that nice mr aherne who was t-shock at the time turned down his offer, time has given the answer to that one, when ever i have been over there my friends would laugh and say what were we hiding, mahon and his ilk would have had very small incomes would they not.
